“They don't consider what you have choosen in the reservation”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2010

NH AMBASSADOR was a disappointment from the beginning.
When we checked in we were sent to smoking rooms in the 20th floor, although I had booked non smoking rooms. I went downstairs to ask the receptionist to change our rooms (we had 2 double rooms and a triple), since I had reserved non somiking rooms a long time ago and my daughter is very alergic. She said there was nothing she could do about it, and that we would have to take the smoking rooms at least that night, and on the next day they would try to change. I didn't accept it, specially because I had booked the hotel rooms over two months before. She called the other receptionist that was extremely rude, saying that it was impossible to fit a third bed (for the triple room) in the available non smoking rooms. So I suggested that she could offer us 4 double rooms instead, and she said no way. I told her that she could at least try to put the third bed (foldable bed) in the double one, and she said that she didn't have personal available to do it. My husband then offered to take the bed himself, but she said no. At this point she was speaking very loudly (not to mention screaming) and called the bellman to take the extra bed to the room in the 19th floor to show me that it wouldn't fit. Surprise, it fitted and the size of the room was the same as in the 20th floor, except these rooms were non smoking. Well, the confusion lasted over an hour, but by the end we got the three nonsmoking "double" rooms that I had booked, but the rooms were very old and not well maintained.

“We lie to the best of our ability, especially when the manager is gone.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2010

Checked in with a colleague, given rooms on the 30th floor. It was a warm day and the room I was given was very warm. I called reception, and was told "the computer says its working". So, I thought I would give it a few minutes. 30 minutes later, it was HOT in this room. Another call to reception yielded another deferrment " please wait 10 minutes, sir." Obviously, 10 minutes was no remedy. Another call and this time, the rude female at reception hung up on me. We went to dinner and returned later that evening. The room was still hot. I returned to reception and demanded to be moved. The bewildered staff could not understand why I would be upset ! I was told the manager was not available. No one was left in charge in the manager's absence. Very poor customer service, very poor responses, and I had to tell them how to take care of customers. Simply clueless! I make 6 trips to Italy each year, and I have between 2-3 and colleagues with me each time. We stay for a week at a time. So...the NH Ambassador blew their chance at a fair chunk of business. I guess 70- 80 nights of business per year means nothing to the management.

The good part was that once I got moved, the room was nice, and the air conditioning was great, FINALLY. Breakfast was okay.

“Good business/leisure hotel in downtown Naples”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 April 2010

The NH Ambassador (formerly the Jolly Ambassador) is located in the highest building (30 stories) in Naples and is most convenient to the city business, political, and commerical centres, as well as the port. We stayed in a deluxe room, number 2923, on the 29th floor and had a marvelous view of Piazza Municipio, the Maschio Angioino castle, and the port with the cruise terminal and Molo Beverello. In the distance was the island of Capri. The room, while needing a bit of updating, was clean and very comfortable. It actually had one of the most comfortable hotel beds we have found recently. The price was €190 per night (I had stayed in the same room a couple weeks previously, paying just €115 for single occupancy but I guess that was a slow night and they gave me a discounted price). Breakfast was included and was fairly good. The only negatives this stay was a very slow check-in with keys to a smoking room on the 23rd floor) when my reservation was for non-smoking (had to go back down to reception to change it), and in 2923, the shower termperature control mechanism was difficult to use. The carpeting out in the corridor on the 29th could also use a good cleaning or better, replacement. For the remainder, the hotel is an excellent choice for anyone wishing to stay downtown. On the Via Medina street opposite the hotel and down to the right toward Piazza Municipio is an excellent restaurant frequented almost exclusively by locals, the Trattoria Medina. Great traditional Neapolitan food at very inexpensive prices.

“Luxury Bath Towels”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2009

Good location, friendly staff and great views from our room all lent themselves to a hotel I would return to at some future date. But it was the unexpected pleasures (unique foods I've not experienced before, such as pudding shooters and poppy seed croissants filled with just the right touch of chocolate) such as the generous breakfast, the orange soaps and the huge bath towels that really tickled me. Two high-speed internet stations available for a fee. One caveat: bring earplugs. Not only is Naples a noisy place, but high winds caused a flag to flap in the breeze outside our window all night long which created a racket. I hadn't expected to like Naples, but I loved it and I must go back. The city has much to offer art and history buffs. The people were very warm.
