We spent the weekend in this hotel and were slightly apprehensive as to what to expect. However, with a truly outstanding location, right in the heart of the cultural centre of the city, yet tucked away on a narrow cobbled alley, a little guarded from the tourist stampede.
The staff were incredibly attentive to us, warm and provided us with wonderful advice on transport, bars and restaurants, which were not mentioned in the standard worn pages of much loved travel guides.
The hotel itself ticked all the boxes in regards to cleanliness and the support staff providing good humour and assistance when required (particularly useful for a couple with no grasp of the Italian language).
The main dining area, where breakfast was eaten (a buffet, which was varied and excellent) was a sight to behold. The Archbishop of Naples resided on the grounds of the hotel in the 17th Century, and the high ceilings with intricate and ornate decoration harked back to a distant time.
Wonderful value, superb location, fantastic staff and a handful of character made this hotel a real stand out and made for a fantastic visit to this creaky and traditional city by the coast.
