“Hotel yes, spa no”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2010

This hotel was lovely. I agree with other reviewers that it is not for those who have difficulty with stairs. They are everywhere. I stayed with my teenage daughter. We were in a room sandwiched between 2 others. A sun bathing spot was on the roof. The pools were lovely, offering great variety. The really hot baths were reserved for the spa that I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole again. There was no indication of what prices were or how to schedule things at the spa. They are of course closed from 1:30-4:30. It is also the only place to get the bathing caps required for the pool. Renting a pool towel was a racket as well. The massage I did finally get scheduled was the worst experience. I was scheduled for a therapuetic massage. A man picked me up took me to a room and told me to take off all my clothes as he stood there. Guess I'm still too modest (used to the person leaving while I undress and climb under a sheet.) No sheet here. As he began massaging he proceeded to burp and hack the whole time. Then I had to sit while he did the shoulders. The whole thing was only 20 minutes, (thank heavens) but cost 45 euro! We scheduled pedicures for our last morning, but when we arrived we were told they couldn't do them until the afternoon or the next day. 0 for the spa and 8 for the hotel. I thought the dinner a little pricy, but good. Breakfast was average, and we didn't do lunch. I would reccommend the island though. It was beautiful.

“Good for the package holiday crowd, but not for me.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

What can I say. Ischia was the nicest place we visited on a trip to the Bay of Naples, but this was the worst hotel we stayed in.

The best way to describe this place is that it is a package holiday resort, and since I don't like package holiday resorts, I didn't care much for the place. Further, even if I did like package holidays, I would usually expect something to make up for the somewhat poor location of this hotel, such as a nice view, or a beach, or a park. But all you get is a very extensive list of Spa treatments.

There are redeeming qualities to the hotel though. There's a decent sized pool, the place was clean enough, and the staff was polite.

“Beautiful hotel in lovely surroundings with great food and friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2010

I visited this lovely hotel last year and was very impressed with the whole package. On arrival the staff were very efficient and friendly. The room was spacious and comfortable and the air-conditioning very much appreciated. Their was a good sized balcony with views across the horel grounds. Everything needed for a comfortable stay was in the room including a safe, minibar and hairdrier.
The rooms were cleaned everyday and bedding and towels changed often. If beach towels were required you could hire them from the spa for a few euros and when needed, be taken back and replaced ,but had to pay each time at changeover. When going into any of the pools a swimming hat(very attractive-not) is compulsory for everyone which can also be purchased at the spa for a few euros.
The service at the hotel was excellent with one exception, the bar. Service was a little slow at times but this didn't spoil the atmosphere . The food was delicious and plentiful. Breakfast was a hot and cold buffet with enough choice to please every taste. Dinner was a three course meal with lots of choices for every course and all beautiful food. Drinks could be ordered in the dining room to have with dinner. All drinks and extra snacks were signed for and the total paid by credit card at the end of the holiday which meant cash was not necessary at the hotel.
All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I am returning in July this year.

“Relaxing Waters Abound!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2009

This was my husband's and my second stay here (last time was 2001). Each time was for a conference. This time we brought our 18 year old daughter.

Be forewarned - this hotel is not for the physically challenged! Many levels of steps - up and down - to get to our room. Use the bellhop! He took our three suitcases on a dolly, pulling it up and down, and sweating the whole way!

Our room was pretty spacious for three people. The downside was our "king" bed was two twins pushed together, and a rollaway bed was placed at the foot of our beds for our daughter's use. No matter, we all slept well, and it made it easier for her to grab my toe to ask me to stop snoring! Room was very clean (I liked having a tile floor instead of carpet - especially with all the coming and going from the pools.) There was a mini fridge and combination safe in our room. We also had a table and chairs outside our room to sit at.

The best, and most amazing, part of the hotel are the pools. Five different ones, each with their own purpose! A lap pool, a family pool, tropical pool, waterfall pool, and an indoor pool for spa purposes. We loved the waterfall pool - rather like a large hot tub with a stone wall waterfall across the backside. It was heavenly to sit under the fall and relax our muscles! The tropical pool was also great - in a glass atrium with lush plants. All water was very warm, flowing from the natural mineral springs. Yes, you must wear bathing caps in the water. These can be purchased for 2Eu at the gift shop. They are stretchy polyester, not at all like the latex ones I expected. I am surprised about the complaints I've read about them. They aren't fashionable looking, but I guess they do protect the pool from stray hairs, and they are inexpensive and actually pretty comfortable. While I was under the falls I appreciated not having my hair falling in my face.

Breakfast was in a large dining hall. They tended to run out of some fruit near time to close, but overall there was some healthy fare to be found alongside the usual processed foods.

Hotel is a 15 minute walk from the center of town, where all the restaurants and shops are. There are a few pizzerias near the hotel and a couple of grocery stores.

The concierge runs a little side business. He will rent you a car or scooter. We rented the car for one day to drive around the island. The rate was comparable to another place in town, and it was more convenient. The car was a newer model.

My daughter and I also booked a tour to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvio through the concierge. The only day we had available to go, the tour was only offered in German and Italian! And we don't speak either. No matter. We went anyway and the bus driver and tour guide watched out for us, and gave us as much English as they could! I highly recommend this tour.

“Service and Breakfast have to be improved”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 June 2009

Rooms were very nice and clean. Cleaning staff was very friendly and helpful. Contrary, staff at reception and restaurant was not friendly, desinterested and really did not look like they would like their job very much.
I quite liked the piano life music at the bar, but can imagine that it might be too noisy in rooms close to it.
The breakfast was the worst I ever had in a hotel. A lot of packed stuff, hardly any fresh fruits or so, instant coffee...horrible. Only the italian pasticceria things were good. Lunch and Dinner were good, but from my opinion it is better to go to a ristorante or pizzeria somewhere.
The swimming cap thing was strange but more or less funny. You can buy cheap ones for 2.50 Euros in Porto. They charge you extra for a pool towel at the hotel, which I also did not like. We did not try the spa area.
Near the hotel is a supermarket where you can buy some fruits and something to drink.
