This hotel left such an impression on my wife and me that although it has been several months since we visited (and please excuse the tardiness, but we have been pregnant with our first baby throughout!), the wonderful memories of the property continually motivated me to post a review! To begin, as it's been stated here elsewhere, to access the hotel you must take the funicular to the main Capri square, and then walk through a few gorgeous streets to arrive at your destination. There are certainly hotels closer to the square, but the add'l time/effort to reach La Vega is more than worth it. (*Note that you can pay to have your bags "taxi'd" to your hotel. Given the distance and the slight grade of the walk, this may not be a bad idea if you're slightly older or if the prospect of pulling your luggage a little doesn't sound quite like a vacation. That being said, I pulled our small bags to/from with no issue, but note these were smaller, carry-on bags and I was in the mood for some exercise :-). Either way, it is a little cramped in the funicular if you do choose to carry your own luggage, so try to avoid a packed car / large bag if at all possible.) Back to La Vega, once there, you are greeted by an extremely hospitable front desk (multi-lingual), and then taken to a spotless room with truly magnificent views. The bathrooms are rather large by European standards, and the private balcony offers scenery that is nothing short of spectacular. The hotel also has a spacious pool, with outstanding, attentive service. The breakfast is very good, though slightly inferior in terms of selection vs other top Italian hotels. Lastly, the wi-fi signal was reliable, with satisfactory access throughout the property, even by the pool. We cannot wait to return to La Vega, and our gratitude to the kind owner who spoke with us on several occasions!
