We traveled with another couple who had previously stayed here 4 years ago - and strongly recommended staying here again while we were in Sorrento for three nights. This is an ideal place for anyone looking to be away from the main hustle and bustle of the town - but it could be a detraction for those who like to be "close to the action". PROS: fantastic views of Capri and the bay of Naples (weather permitting). One of the most pleasant and helpful staffs ever encountered (thanks Stephanie and all). We had the suite on the second floor (with another flight of stairs in the room up to the enormous bath area) The room was very spacious with plenty of closets, had a decent sized flat screen TV, great a/c and a wonderful balcony with views-views-views!!! In addition there is free wireless throughout the hotel and free computer use if you didn't bring your own, Rosa will prepare a great dinner for you upon request. if you drive North from the hotel for a few km, you can get an unbelievable panoramic view of Capri and the bay of Naples on one side and the Amalfi coast as far as Salerno on the other. The relais is away from the traffic and noise of "downtown" Sorrento. Bus service is available from a nearby stop. They do have a driver and car available that will take you down to the ferry dock, or down to the city for dinner for 15 euros. There also is a good restaurant nearby that will pick you up and bring you back to the relais for free. CONS: Our friends had mentioned before that unless one was driving a smaller car, the downhill driveway entrance (from the village street to the relais) was very restricted and quite "tight" to get through. Once you've navigated through the entrance and are at the relais, if you do want to walk back up the driveway to get to the bus or get something at the nearby market, the climb is very steep and is accomplished much easier by those people who are in great physical condition! Every morning we had breakfast with people who were staying in the annex - they were always complaining about the lack of view from the annex and the hike down and back up for breakfast or anything else that they needed from reception. When you book, check to see if you are in the annex (cheaper but apparently no views from rooms and lots of climbing) or in a "sea view" room in the main building, which are very nice. As mentioned in another review, the water pressure in the shower or hand held shower nozzle was low and the temperature of the water very "touchy". My major complaint was that there was an elevator present, but it was "out-of order" and it does not seem to be something that will be fixed soon, as they have a drawer/cabinet in front of the elevator door on the second floor(third floor to us Americans). After a long day of sightseeing, when I have no other options, I will climb as many stairs as needed to get to my room - but when I am climbing all of these stairs and see the elevator just sitting there, out-of-order, I cannot give relais Diana a 5 star rating.
