We stayed at the Michelangelo Hotel as part of a tour of Italy. We had a triple room (one double bed and a single). The room was unclean - it looked as if there were urine marks in the bidet, there was hair on the toilet seat, a few of the towels looked stained, and there were a few hair strands in the beds. When we told the front desk about our unclean room, they said that the hotel was full, but they sent someone up to clean the room. The people from our tour who had the room next to ours had mould above the door on the inside of their room. We saw that another room on our floor had large amounts of hair all over the floor. The man who was sent up to sweep the room asked the women from our tour group if THEY had brushed their hair recently (It definitely was not their hair!). Their room also smelled mouldy. One dirty room could just be a mistake, but 3+ dirty rooms is not acceptable! I would not stay at this hotel again, just based on the cleanliness factor. That being said, our room was large, the staff were friendly during breakfast, and they had a good selection of breakfast foods (eggs, fruit, yogurt, juice, croissants, etc.). The staff also called to make a reservation for us at a restaurant. There was one computer which had free internet access. The location is also good, as it is on the main street. If you are staying in the area of this hotel, I would highly recommend going to "La Basilica Restaurant". We had some of the best food here from our whole trip!!! They let us make last minute reservations for a group of 12 for 6:30pm (which is early for Italy). They were so attentive and friendly, they gave our whole group delicious breaded zucchini flowers and homemade limoncello, and the prices were reasonable.
