Having just got back from hotel villa igea, stunning balcony views albeit above the petrol pumps. Very noisy due to heavy traffic and much bleeping of horns, an italian thing i think. Agree with many reviews, breakfast awfull and the coffee im sure is yesterdays washing up water.
Not enough sunbeds around the pool...very annoying as no beach nearby.
Staff did try to be friendly though. bar next door rip you off with bus tickets of which you need to use daily as walking into sorrento, well i think you would get killed by manic mopeds. beautifull part of italy all said.

WE have just booked a 7 day stay at this hotel for September 2010. The travel agent was so helpful today getting us fixed up just over budget and now I feel so let down having come home to look it up on trip advisor. If anyone has anything positive to say please do so! My only consolation so far is that none of the reviews are dated this year so perhaps things have changed - here's hoping!

I am literally amused by all the complaints abput Villa Igea. Do the authors realize that Villa Igea is not a 5 star hotel ? For the price you get a very good value! The rooms might be a bit bigger, but for the rest we are very satisfied! Nice pool, fabiolous beach (after a 10 minutes walk), nice food ( I grew up in Italy so I dare saying that I know what Italian food should taste like). The service is not excellent, but you have to cosider that it´s Soutern Italy and service is not their strenght. Very funny the negative comments about the little petrol pump in front of the hotel, I nearly didn´t notice it, but it seems to be a big issue for other travellers looking for negative aspects. So where is the problem? It´s very easy: if someone is looking for the perfect spot he should go to a 4 or 5 star hotel without soul and maybe also with these stupid American high beds. There is one advice I can give to those people: Travelling doesn´t mean findig everything you have at home in a different sorrounding. Just realax and take things as they are. Flexibility might be a big advantage when travelling!

No air conditioning though we were told there was. Rooms were dirty and food was bad. Service was also horrid. Many other options in the area.
