“Quality gaff!”

It's taken a while to get this review going but she's watching bloody big brother and I've got no int so here it is.

I went to the Imperial Hotel with my family back in September 2011, 6 adults and 1 toddler for a friends wedding. The staff as we checked in we're very friendly and helpful and told us a lot of good info about the area and what do see and do etc. hotel rooms were lovely and clean, nice and airy with all the bits and bobs.

The hotel is quite old but it's not dated, it's done out in an old fashioned way but this takes nothing away from the experience.
Breakfast was superb, I ate like a pig for 5 days, fill your boots!
Lunchtime we ventured out or ate round the pool. Again the grub and the service was very very good. The pool staff were very attentive. It was quite quiet aroundvthecpool even tho it backed onto a cobblestone road. The pool is nice, not massive, but ok. It's not really 'kid friendly' as such, but my little'un wasn't bothered, it was good enough for her.
Evening meal was a set menu, not really my bag, but this was great. We didn't have a bad meal at all and the selections were fine for all of us every evening. Again, I ate like a gannet.
The standout for me were the staff in the restaurant, especially Jack and the don of the Gaff, Luigi. My daughter loved them and it made for a great experience for her. Bearing in mind this isn't a child orientated hotel, they did really well.
The location was superb, right on the beach and 5 mins from the main square.
All in all, a really lovely place to be if your staying in Sorrento....so much better than that CARZY I stayed in in Kalkan, Turkey. Here's hoping that place has fallen into the sea along with all the staff as well.
Anyway, in a nutshell, hats off to the Tramontano, I would 100% recommend you stay here. It's well boaty. Cheers.

“Fabulous hotel close to the town centre.”

I have been to this hotel twice, at Christmas time both times but I am thinking about going at Easter this year.
This is a lovely old building with every room different, it is not the usual 'hotel room anywhere". The rooms vary in size and outlook, obviously but both times I went the rooms were spacious with tiled floors and comfortable furnishing. The second time I was in one of the older rooms and was thrown a bit by the bath taps labelled F and C! The dining room has large windows overlooking the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius across the water so you would get early warning:)
The staff are friendly and very helpful. I loved it.
PS for anyone who does not know Italian Fis cold C is hot, confusingly.

Room Tip: WiFi is only available in reception but the rooms overlooking reception get Wi Fi too.

“Amazing, spectactular, you will love it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

We stayed at the Hotel in August for our honeymoon. I really cant think of a bad word to say about it. The location is very central however the place feels like a real oasis with lush tropical gardens out front. If you are luicky enough to have a balcony facing the Bay of Naples its even better! The hotel is clean and well decorated. The staff were absolutley lovely so I do not understand the previous comment. They all wear very smart uniforms, provide a high quality of service and really went the extra mile I felt. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

Room Tip: Suites are lovely. Definitely ask for a balcony facing the sea. We stayed in room 102.

“Expensive sleep in the centre of Sorrento.”

This hotel has great potential but is let down by bad management. Restaurant staff looked as if they had been hand picked off a building site and you quickly learn to keep you knife and fork in your hands, if you don't your plate is in danger of being taken away before you finish. Staff at reception found it difficult to smile. Considering this is an important hotel I was surprised by poor food and general service. If you are travelling as a single person they put you in a small room which is really difficult to move around in.
The positive side is that you are centrally located and there is easy acces to Marina Piccolo which is the ferry station to Capri, Naples and Ischia. Probably better just to take bed and breakfast and eat dinner in the town.
Good hotel if you are looking for an expensive sleep in the centre of Sorrento in a room which is so so, of course if you are an important Italian the red carpet I am sure will be rolled out!

Room Tip: If you are a single traveller pretend you are travelling with another person and say at check in the...

“Fabulous location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We travelled with Citalia In September. La Tramontana is in a perfect location (although the transfer from Naples is nausea inducing) a few minutes walk from the town centre, overlooking the Bay of Naples. Pay for the sea view or live to regret it. Breakfast lovely, evening meal - give it a miss. Spend a day on the sea front decking; pay for an umbrella and sun-beds and watch the Italians at play – priceless. Give Capri a miss as it is crowded and expensive.
