Despite great service from the staff and a nice location, the beds were uncomfortable and the wi-fi did not work from the 4th floor. The cost for a double room was very expensive for the lack of these things.

I mainly stayed at this hostel because of how cheap it was, I stayed in an 8 person communal room (guys) and it was pretty good besides one night where a dude had the most disturbing snores (think sleep apnea mixed with demon talk) I've heard ever. The place is an old church convent which has been thoroughly renovated. I had a look into the 4 person rooms that the hostel features most of and they're nice, some had a nice balcony overlooking the terrace.
The area is pretty good, seems to be in the middle of the night life area but far enough away that you won't be kept up if you leave the window open. The beach is literally 5 minutes down the road and during the evening many places open up in the surrounding areas. I recommend getting the breakfast as part of your stay, it is an extra 3 euro BUT its an all you can eat breakfast so I would stock up heavy in the morning and even make myself a snack for the early afternoon. Why? This town lives by some strange rules where you won't find any cheap eats open until the evening leaving only 10+ euro a plate restaurants as your only choice.
Only reason I don't give it 5/5 is the internet situation. No free wifi and the cost per hour is outrageous (3 euro/hour), friend and I split a 10 hour package for 10 euro between ourselves and even that's a lot. Other than that, its a good, cheap base to use for those day excursions to Amalfi.
We took a nice ferry ride from Amalfi to Salerno and it was good to get back to reasonable prices. This hotel is not easy to find so I would get directions and a map from the information center near the train/bus station. It is a fair walk from the ferry landing down the pedestrian mall into a warren of small streets in the centro storico. I just kept asking directions in Italian. This hostel was a former convent so the rooms are plain but clean and the beds are nice. It has the worlds smallest shower. The Duomo is near and worth a visit as are the Minerva Gardens. The highlight of the stay is the evening dinner at the hostel. For 12.5 euros you get a 4 course gourmet Italian dinner with wine. The operation is run by 2 lawyers that do not work during the summer when court is not in session Gourmet cooking is their passion and it shows because the food is fantastic. By far the best value in Italy. As always the staff was very helpful.
My wife and I stayed here for two nights while traveling through south Italy. The price was good, and we were especially pleased because we were upgraded by the hostel staff to a private room overlooking the courtyard for no additional cost (quite a beautiful courtyard). The staff were friendly, but the hostel was quite loud, especially at night, and the nearest men's washroom was one floor down. It was still a great place to stay for the price while we were in the area, especially due to the private room that we received.
We loved staying in this impressive 16th century home! Our hosts were absolutely marvelous and went way beyond what was expected. We came back home with a limoncello recipe (the best lemon liquor ever is produced here), pottery ware that we painted ourselves and lots of beautiful memories of being cared for like by your own mother. Lina organised all of the above for us, as well as special rental prices for our scooter, discounts at local restaurants and she had tips for almost any of the things we had planned to do.
If you like food, wine, lazy days and a real southern Italian feel while you get transported back to your childhood due to the TLC present in this home - this is the place for you!!
