“Excellent base for exploring Amalfi and it's stunning coastline”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

This was our first visit to the Hotel Amalfi but it definitely won't be our last. Paola and the hotel team were so welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and they were more than accommodating with all our requests. The hotel itself is brilliantly situated within the old town of Amalfi literally meters away from all the hustle and bustle of bars, restaurants and the main square. We all had a superb time. We did hire a car but probably wouldn't do so again as the hotel runs a shuttle service (at a charge) to and from Naples Airport. Also you can get everywhere you want on the local buses which are very cheap this means you can sit back and really enjoy the views which were magnificent.

“customers should get heat in october”

Hotels are a customer - centred business, and as such, if a customer wants heat in their room in October, it should be available to them
However, it is NOT available at the Hotel Amalfi!

“Great base for exploring the Amalfi Coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We were pleased with our stay here, and will stay here for future visits to the Amalfi coast. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Although I know some Italian, Carmela is fluent in English, and the rest of the staff have passable or better command of English. (I did not get the same vibe as Philomena49 at all; sometimes those tourists who act as 'ugly Americans' get the replies they invite). The rooms are modern, spacious, nicely decorated, and clean. The Air Conditioning worked well. Breakfast on the terrace was a great way to start the day. The location is great--about 100 yards/meters past the Duomo Piazza and up the stairs to the left(look for small wrought-iron sign), then just to the right. We traveled light, but I believe the hotel can provide help bringing bags up the stairs. There is a drop-off laundry service about 2 blocks up the pedestrian street for those interested in traveling light which I'd recommend for any travel on the Amalfi coast--it will make jumping on SITA busses or the ferry that much easier. The city of Amalfi is a nice base for exploring the coast; getting to Positano or Ravello is easy with local bus or ferry service. Amalfi is not quite as steep as getting around Positano. There is no shortage of great places to eat within a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel, our favorite was 'da Gemma.'

Room Tip: Ask for one of the bigger rooms, although all are nice.

“Comfortable, quiet and oh so central!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

This Hotel is owner operated and is very central, yet very quiet! It is situated 1 row back from the main street and is reached via a steep flight of stairs! (the Hotel advertises help getting bags up and down!)
Staff was very helpful and efficient and key people could speak a good English. The complimentary in and outdoor roof-top continental breakfasts are excellent and of good quality and quantity. This area offers lovely views up the valley and village. The room and en-suite was recently tastefully refurbished and was found spacious and well appointed offering a/c, mini fridge and hair dryer. A nice touch was the complimentary slippers
We were not disappointed with our choice and would certainly return again when visiting the area!

Room Tip: For couples, do ask for a garden room (room 315 & 316) These two rooms are rated as deluxe and i...

“Great location and friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2011

The location is extremely central - to both shops, restaurants, the beach and transport (the pier to catch ferries or the bus stop). Rooms clean and comfortable. Breakfast great and great views of the town centre and water. The staff could not have been more friendly and hospitable - we arrived at 10pm at night and they took care of everything for us - lovely people. Overall we were very pleased and would definitely stay here again.
