I stayed in villa Lara for 1 night in November being part of one year traveling the world. Currently I am in Indonesia and I would have to stay I think in all of my trip so far Amalfi has been the best place to visit and certainly Villa Lara for the price is the best clean accomodation. As it is an old villa you feel at home and the view is breathtaking. The staff are extremely welcoming and have all the local knowledge of the best non touristy places to eat. I highly recommend when staying on the Amalfi coast to stay at Villa Lara.

“Amazing”

i spent a couple of days over NYE in Villa Lara in Amalfi after I met some people on the train who suggested i stayed there instead of Positano which was my original plan. What a god send that suggestion was because it was everything and more I hoped for. The location, the view, the room, the service was impecable. I would certainly recommend anyone looking to stay on the Amalfi Coast to stay at Villa Lara. I say a big thankyou to Laura & Mario who I met on the train for their suggestion and also suggest to go to Cartari (i think is the correct name) to eat the typical amalfi cuisine.

“Tuquoise delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Even now in raw January, I remember sitting on the terrace feeling the warm september breeze on my arms while enjoying the magnificent view. We had the turquoise room which was spacious, airy with a big balcony that faced the mountain. The staff was beyond friendly and very eager to suggest what to do and where to eat. I'd go back tomorrow!

“We are still talking about this place”

My wife and I stayed at Villa Lara for four days during our honeymoon and it was by far the most relaxing thing that we did. The staff was amazing. They stayed up late and had drinks with us each night and gave us great incite into the town of Amalfi as well as other places in the region. Each morning they had a nice breakfast waiting and even remembered what we were drinking and how we wanted our food.

We had the junior suite and it was well worth the extra money. The room was a good size although the angled ceilings could be an issue for someone who is really tall. The private balcony was my favorite part of the stay. I stayed up late and watched the town go to sleep and was even able to watch a storm move in from the water. It was amazing.

One word of caution is the trek that it takes to get from the port to the hotel. My wife and I had several large bags and it was impossible to find a cab to take us up the hill to the hotel. Because there is only one road that goes through the town, there are restrictions on the direction that traffic can move at certain times of the day. If you have heavy bags, I would recommend waiting for a cab or city transportation to help with the hike up to the hotel. The staff at the hotel can line that up for you.

VIlla Lara is a must for any trip to Amalfi! Thanks so much for making our stay in Amalfi spectacular.

“An amazing place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

This was the perfect place to stay for our honemoon in amalfi. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, full of local knowledge and they have great ideas for places to eat and things to do. The rooms were lovely, clean and air condtioned. There are plenty of places to sit and read or have a drink as well. We would definately stay here again.
