“Very disappointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

We arrived in Valencia early morning so we didn't expect they'd have a room for us. The girl at the front desk was helpful enough to let us leave our luggages and gave us a city map. When we came back at 3pm, another person was at the desk but she was busy on the phone and nobody else was around. When she finished I showed her our luggage tags, she pointed to the back somewhere to indicate we could get them ourselves, I said we didn't know where they'd put our luggages, she seemed surprised. We followed her to the back, got our luggages, apparently she thought we were leaving so I told her we hadn't checked in yet. The room they gave us was not one of the rooms we wanted, the shower (a see-through glass room) and the toilet are separated, it's not very convenient if you're not traveling with your spouse/partner. The guests next to our room were shouting and slamming doors all through the night and nobody seemed to care. There's no phone in the room so I had to go down and told the front desk. This hostel is located in a rental residential building so you see a lot of people coming and going. It might be a good place to stay for young people who like to party and stay up late but for someone like me who wants a good night sleep I wouldn't recommend at all. All the hotels/hostels we stayed in Spain have been great except this one.

“Excellent place, better than a hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

Great location, very close to the "Ciudad de las artes". Beatiful rooms, charming and cosy. You can use all the hostel services, but the atmosphere is the one of a good hotel.
Low prices and friendly staff, what else do you want? Excellent!!

“Great accomodation for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

Rooms Deluxe hotel is a funky and good place to stay in Valencia. Each room is decorated with a different theme so it's always fun opening the door to see what you've got! The staff at the front desk were always very helpful and spoke excellent English. There is usually only one person on reception and it can get very busy so be prepared to spend a few minutes at reception if you need anything. This is more like a deluxe hostel than a hotel and for a hostel and the price you pay it's really good value.

The hotel is located beside the City of Arts and Science and it's a lovely area to stay in and very clean and safe. Unfortunately it's a bit of a distance from the city centre though there is a regular bus (number 35) that goes there every 10 minutes. It takes about 10 - 15 mins to get to the centre. There is also a bus (no. 23) that goes directly to the beach but unfortunately this only goes every 30 minutes so you can be waiting quite a while on it. The 95 bus goes to the main bus station in Valencia and goes all up and down the length of the River Turia (now made into gardens). The bus stop for all of these buses is within a minutes walk of the hotel. There are a few restaurants on the road behind the hotel and a few on the same road as the hotel which are fine but not great and a bit pricey for what you're getting. Apparently there are some great bars in the City of Arts and Science but we didn't get to try them out while we were there.

There is a large shopping centre called El Saler within about 5 mins walking distance from the hotel. The kitchen area in the hotel is very provisioned and nice to cook in. Unforunately the air conditioning in the kitchen never seems to be on so it can get very warm in there!

We stayed in two different rooms as we were travelling in Spain in between. All the rooms have air con, towels and a TV. The first room was a Moroccan themed room for 4 people which was generously sized with very comfortable beds (my idea of comfortable is a firm mattress!). The room was quite clean (though the floor was a little dusty) and the bathroom was nice and clean. This room was on the second floor and was nice and quiet with no traffic noise despite facing onto the main road.

The second room we stayed in was the 'Ego' room which was nice and spacious though the bathroom was a bit smaller. This is a room for 2 people. Unfortunately this room is right beside the kitchen and as there are no doors on the kitchen it can be quite noisy in the morning. The kitchen closes at 11pm so it's fine at night time. I'd recommend that you bring ear plugs in case you're staying on the 1st floor so that you're not disturbed by the noise!

All in all, I'd recommend this hostel to people coming to Valencia. There's quite a mix of age ranges staying there and a range of nationalities as well. If I was going to Valencia again though I think I'd try a hostel/hotel closer to the city centre as there is so much to see and do there and it's much easier for going out in the evenings as taxi's aren't that cheap! From the city centre back to the hostel is between €8-10 depending on how late it is.

“Definitely a hostel, not a hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2010

I spent one night in Rooms Deluxe with a friend. The room we were allocated was very large and had an interesting interior design, featuring bright white walls and crazy red artwork.

On entering the room, the first thing I noticed was its smell. I'm not really sure what it was but it was very musty. We decided to stay in the room, believing that the others would be similar. Apart from this, the room was actually quite well equipped, with ample electrical sockets, a small TV and free Wi-Fi internet access.

The room was well located and had a very generously sized balcony overlooking the street on which the hotel stands. Furnishings in the room were basic (and mainly from IKEA), but the bathroom was markedly more comfortable than the room itself. It had a nice plain grey decor, although some of the adhesives used around the shower were discoloured and looked very bad.

There was no safety deposit box in the room, meaning that we had to carry our valuables around with us for the duration of our stay in Valencia. This was not ideal, but preferable to leaving them in the room.

There was noise (of people cooking and talking in the communal kitchen) until about 11pm and then it was actually quite quiet all night. I got a good night's sleep here.

Next time I am in Valencia I am going to look for a hotel rather than a hostel. I picked this one because TripAdvsor said it was a "hotel", but really it is just a hostel with a laundry service.
