“Modern design hotel right next to the city of arts and sciences”

My husband and I visited Valencia for new year and I chose this hotel as it was good value for money, was 5 mins walk from the city of arts and sciences and looked new and modern. It did not disappoint, the location was excellent although you do have to walk for about 10 minutes to the nearest metro. The beach is a 20 minute walk. We basically did a lot of walking all holiday, kept us fit though! We chose the most basic double room and while the view was not great (an apartment block), the room was brilliant, new, clean, modern with a huge comfortable bed. The food in the restaurant was excellent and good value, the bar was lovely and the staff friendly. The spa was amazing, especially the dynamic pool with waterbeds and waterjets. We visited the spa twice, we got one visit free in our package and paid for the other visit. Beware It is pricey - £20ish per person per 80 minute circuit! Was lovely to relax after lots of walking though . I think the hotel should maybe offer a hotel package where you get one circuit per person per day as we would have liked to use it every day. I highly recommend this hotel if you don't mind walking a bit and being far from the main hub of Valencia. There is a huge shopping mall opposite with lots of great shops and places to eat, and it really is a great location if you plan to spend a few days exploring the city of arts and sciences, which is spectacular .

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

The location was great for the marathon start line and there's a large shopping centre with a supermarket right over the road. Also it's only a 15 minute walk from the beach

The staff could be a little more friendly and maybe say 'hola' once in a while. There were splashes on the wall next to the toilet and bidet. I couldn't tell you if it was water or something less pleasant....

“Friendly and helpful staff”

Stayed here when it was still the Melia. Modern hotel - good location as between beach and old town and next to Cuidad de las Artes and on several bus routes. Excellent breakfast with great choice of fresh fruit. Only downside is no pool- only spa and after warm day of sight seeing would have been great. Very helpful staff did arrange for us to use sister hotel around the corner one day. Also well located for Corte Ingles and modern outdoor shopping centre opposite

“So much potential yet needing attention”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

Location is a 6E taxi ride into town but it is on the Hop on Blue Bus route. Yet the hotel is walkable to the modern water front area with museums and closer to beaches. I was unhappy with this modern hotel charging me 3E for 30 min of internet use. (no place else in Spain,of 15 hotels, charged us) Little bottled water in the room was 2,50 E. Parking was 16,20E (the garage was right next door and connected by elevator and very clean)The toilet paper holder had been jolted from the wall and barely holding on, the towel rack the same, and the sink didn't drain well at all. I warned the staff at check-in but it wasn't fixed during our stay. The very large room was clean enough and the beds were comfortable but the air system had a subtle ,funny sound/smell. The public areas were modern and entertaining with whimsical different sculptures strategically placed. We had dessert in the restaurant and had a hard time communicating with the staff and often getting their attention but they seemed friendly and well-intended.

“Excellent location”

This was formerly the Melia (and is still known as such by taxi drivers) but is now managed by the Urbem hotel group. This hotel has a wonderful location - 5 minute walk to the Jardines de Turia and the Science Museum, 5 minutes further to the Oceanographic. There is a bus right outside which goes into town or to the port - you can also walk to the port. Directly opposite the Aqua shopping centre which has cafes and a supermarket and also next door to El Corte Ingles 8 floor department store with another supermarket (taxi rank here). The open top bus stops nearby so you can use this as well (good value combined ticket with the Bioparc). As someone else has mentioned they need more staff on reception as you have to wait a long time whilst they take phone calls. My bedroom was amazing in that the air conditioning stayed on when you took the room key out of the electricity holder - lovely to come back to a cool room. I also had a view over the City of Arts and Sciences. There is a mini bar (no prices) which is handy for storing your own drinks. No shower gel/shower hat or flannels in the bathroom which is strange for a 4 star hotel - there is however soap, shampoo, conditioner, body milk, bath gel and tissues. Very few English TV channels. Ample breakfast buffet and a new Nespresso coffee machine arrived during the week which was good for getting hot water for tea. I loved the Danish pastries, fresh fruit and fresh orange juice. Don't forget to try the horchata. I only ate in the restaurant one evening. Service was quite slow because of a large party but the food very nice and not overpriced. The wine was very good value. I think the restaurant might be closed on Sundays. There is a terrace garden outside away from the road where you can sit and enjoy a drink. There is so much to go see in Valencia I need to go back. I hope I will be able to afford to stay here again because it was a lovely relaxing place to stay.
