“clean cut business hotel, good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

If you're looking for a top notch place te sleep in Valencia this is an excellent choice. The rooms are spacious, excellent beds and the bathroom is luxurious. But dont stay here if you're looking for authentic atmosphere etc. or somewhere where your kids can enjoy themselves. The breakfast is ok but doesnt feel spanish so after trying it once we switched to the little breakfast and lunchbar just around the corner. Just check when the el corte ingles personell leave for work in the morning ...

because the huge el corte ingles and the shopping centre with restaurants en cinemas are just across the street with the major Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias just behind it. We liked the central location because both the beach as downtown Valencia are within walking distance.

The benefit of this type o businesshotels is that as a tourist you can get excellent (last minute) deals when business is slow...

Room Tip: Probably because we're a same sex couple we got a large room with extra bed, which was descretel...

“Disappointed with this Melia - very poor service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

Perhaps if you are going to Valencia to explore the Museums, this hotel is definetively convenient for the location.
But if you are looking for a great hotel experience to enjoy with your family, do not go there. Service has been very poor, staff at the help desk has been reluctant to help and remediate the mistakes made for the reservation and they didn't align with the offer I had got, which included in the cost a spa circuit. Apart from this inconvenient, I must say that the Lady at the SPA has been the only person that actually cared about doing her job well!
Breakfast is very good and abundant, even if again, service was very poor: I have asked some mushrooms for my omelette and the waiter looked bad at me as if i had asked something forbidden! Room was decent, a standard 4 stars hotel room - no frills and it did not have a great view.
I usually like Melia, but due to this particular hotel's hotel, I will think twice next time before I book Melia again!

“LOVED IT!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2011

This hotel is gorgeous!! We had booked for 3 nights only but ended up staying 5 because we loved it so much! Our room was on the top level, 8th floor, and was stunning! Huge king sized bed with desk, mini bar and seating. The bathroom was a good size and all very modern and clean!

The hotel is in a great location, it's right across the road from 'Aqua', a new multi level shopping centre full fo great bars, restaurants and shops! To the beach you're looking at a 5 min, 6 euro cab ride, and around the same to the old town!

The reception staff so very helpful, especially when were trying to book our leg of the trip to greece. The staff were more than happy to assist with net and phone bookings for us seeing we couldnt speak or understand spanish.

The only down side was there was no pool, although with the beach so close wasn't an issue and the breakfast was nothing special. We did order room service and eat a bit at the restaurant for lunch and dinner and that was great food!

“We don't provide irons to guests”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 May 2011

Stayed in Melia Valencia for 2 night in April 2011.
The hotel lobby and public areas are beautiful but the rooms were very minimalistic, with very ikea-ish furniture which I felt gave the room a cold feeling. The parking in the hotel cost €16.20 per day which we were aware when booking but at the same time we felt it was expensive.
On the second night we decided to go into the old town and wanted to dress up a bit. I rang reception and asked for an iron and ironing board. Was shocked when I was told that they do not provide this service for guests...they did not even have an ironing room that I could use. This surely is not the standard for 4 star hotels.
We also phoned about WiFi and was told that it is available in the rooms (at a charge) but that we had to go to reception for a code but that free WiFi is available in the foyer of the hotel though. My boyfriend explained that it did not suit him to go to the foyer as he was in bed and asked if they could give him the code over the phone. They would not agree to this and told him that he would have to call to reception for a print out of the code. Surely if they had to print the code all they had to do was give it to him over the phone!!
On the plus side, the hotel is opposite El Corte Engles and another large Shopping Centre. It is also very close to the Science Museum etc and the bus stop and metro lines are within walking distance. Another big plus is that the hop-on hop-off tour bus leaves from across the road. This was a very enjoyable trip and you get to see the whole city and get on and off as much as you like for 24/48 hours.Tip for the bus, you can purchase a bus and zoo combo ticket which saves you money.
Overall I enjoyed Valencia and the hotel was comfortable and convenient but it wasn't cheap and I felt that they could definitely improve some of their customer services.
I would recommend this hotel to a friend but only if they were getting a good rate and they bring their own iron!
