I stayed in the Confortel aqua3 for 5 nights in September last year with a friend. It was a last minute (2 weeks is last minute for me) decision after a lot of pouring over TripAdvisor!
Whilst I am very happy we booked this hotel there was one issue. The website at the time stated, and still does at the time of writing this review that the hotel is approximately a 15 euro journey. This in fact turned out to be at least double, and on mentioning it to the reception staff it was confirmed that 15 euro is a very unrealistic price! Two tips for would be holiday makers would be take out enough money (or travel with) from the ATM at the airport as there was a tense hunt for an ATM while the taxi driver waited, the second is learn Spanish or at least make an effort. Granted the learning at least some of the language is only polite when visiting a foreign country.
The hotel matches the photographs provided on their website - It looks very modern and clean. I was generally impressed with the standards (I can be very fussy and I was completely comfortable). There were two pretty quick lifts and the breakfast area was just to the side of the lobby. There was a typical European Breakfast on offer with a choice of pastries like croissant and pain au chocolat, a selection of meats and cheese, and finally a more traditional selection of cereals and spreads for toast.
The rooms were very good, some may say small but they were what we needed. The beds didn't have blankets but being in Spain at the end of summer they weren't exactly required, in fact we kept the air con on all night most of the week (not very green I'm sorry). There was a nice sized table with a lamp and free wireless for internet use. The only possibly critisism about the rooms was that it was a double room with two single beds that had been set up together. The way the fixtures in the room were set up was in a way that they could not be pulled apart. That wasn't too bad, but it wasn't what myself and my (male) friend were expecting!
The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and they all spoke english to an acceptable standard. The hotel is part of a shopping complex so there are many restaurants and shops for anything you need. Bus stops are close by to the town and beach, even though there are some nice bars on the main street where you can sit on the street (if you wish). Another bonus is it very close to the Aquarium, Science Museum and a Carrefour this one put's the super into supermarket, close enough to be convenient and far enough away not to spoil the view (from the centre, not so much the room - that was more a bit of unused land with the sea in the distance). One thing I noticed outside of the hotel is if you don't try to speak a bit of Spanish and rely on "¿Habla inglés?" you will get a lot of no's and or blank looks. Most people in Valencia were very friendly and helpful mind and I would highly recommend it to people with a basic understanding of Spanish.
