“A really enjoyable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2011

I stayed in the Confortel aqua3 for 5 nights in September last year with a friend. It was a last minute (2 weeks is last minute for me) decision after a lot of pouring over TripAdvisor!

Whilst I am very happy we booked this hotel there was one issue. The website at the time stated, and still does at the time of writing this review that the hotel is approximately a 15 euro journey. This in fact turned out to be at least double, and on mentioning it to the reception staff it was confirmed that 15 euro is a very unrealistic price! Two tips for would be holiday makers would be take out enough money (or travel with) from the ATM at the airport as there was a tense hunt for an ATM while the taxi driver waited, the second is learn Spanish or at least make an effort. Granted the learning at least some of the language is only polite when visiting a foreign country.

The hotel matches the photographs provided on their website - It looks very modern and clean. I was generally impressed with the standards (I can be very fussy and I was completely comfortable). There were two pretty quick lifts and the breakfast area was just to the side of the lobby. There was a typical European Breakfast on offer with a choice of pastries like croissant and pain au chocolat, a selection of meats and cheese, and finally a more traditional selection of cereals and spreads for toast.

The rooms were very good, some may say small but they were what we needed. The beds didn't have blankets but being in Spain at the end of summer they weren't exactly required, in fact we kept the air con on all night most of the week (not very green I'm sorry). There was a nice sized table with a lamp and free wireless for internet use. The only possibly critisism about the rooms was that it was a double room with two single beds that had been set up together. The way the fixtures in the room were set up was in a way that they could not be pulled apart. That wasn't too bad, but it wasn't what myself and my (male) friend were expecting!

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and they all spoke english to an acceptable standard. The hotel is part of a shopping complex so there are many restaurants and shops for anything you need. Bus stops are close by to the town and beach, even though there are some nice bars on the main street where you can sit on the street (if you wish). Another bonus is it very close to the Aquarium, Science Museum and a Carrefour this one put's the super into supermarket, close enough to be convenient and far enough away not to spoil the view (from the centre, not so much the room - that was more a bit of unused land with the sea in the distance). One thing I noticed outside of the hotel is if you don't try to speak a bit of Spanish and rely on "¿Habla inglés?" you will get a lot of no's and or blank looks. Most people in Valencia were very friendly and helpful mind and I would highly recommend it to people with a basic understanding of Spanish.

“Grrt for short stays”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2010

The Confortel Aqua 3 was perfect for us! The room was modern and spic and span with all the amenities- Flat TV, Safe, Hair dryer and really nice toiletries. There was abundant supply of hot water, the double bed and pillows were comfortable after a long day around city and the location was the best possible.

We were keen on staying close to the city of Arts & Sciences becoz of the awe inspiring architecture around and this hotel gave us the luxury of walking down to all the grrt stuff around. We did not go for a with breakfast package and we dont regret it. There were grrt shopping eating options at the aqua mall and everyday we tried a new place.

I couldnt have shopped a bit had I not stayed here. the mall being right below the hotel made it easy for us to fit some retail therapy in our jam packed schedule.

If there's one thing I can complain about that will be that the sheets were not changed on everyday basis but thats all over europe i guess.

We are from India and traveled widely across Asia. The kind of service and pampering we are used to in 3star hotels in our part of the globe is way higher than anywhr we got in europe. So no real complaints!

“Nice one, but...”

Pretty nice hotel, but... The room was somewhat small, I don't know what they put another small third bed inside... The cards to the room didn't worked properly, and changing them didn't fixed the problem. Pretty far from historical city center. But breakfast was yummy, and hotel staff was very helpful. I can recommend this one, but possibly you'll find something better in Valencia for the same price.

“Fine - if that's what you like”

Its a business hotel with Wi-Fi in the rooms as well as the free internet in the lobby.

There is no pool or gym, but there is a health centre in the mall at the bottom of the stairs where you can drop in and book for a massage or to use the spa pool.

Breakfast is €7 for all you can eat: cereal, toast, croissants, juice / tea / coffee etc. or go next door to Aqua 4 and its €12 for more choice.

Excellent location to walk to the Centre of Art & Science. They'll give you more info at the hotel. See: http://www.cac.es/

For the beach you take the number 1 or 19 from the road besides the hotel to Malvarossa. (€1.25) Stay on the bus all the way, then just ask someone where the beach is: "Para La Playa por favor". The beach is beautiful and was very quiet when I was there.

To visit the city center you can also take bus 19, or you can pick up the tour bus by the hotel. Ask at reception for more info, I think you can even buy the tour bus ticket from them. Also ask about multi-tickets where you get the Tour Bus and Bio Parc included in the same ticket, or Hemespheric and tour bus, so you'll save money.

Contrary to previous reviews here about the staff, I found them very nice and helpful. There was one excellent English speaker on the desk at all times. I had a problem working out the shower and they sent someone straight away.

Not sure about the price I paid, since their website was advertising at a much cheaper rate, so just check the price before you book.

The rooms are really nice and posh. The cleaner will come in and clean no matter what little sign you hang on the door. The doors are near impossible to close without slamming, so you'll get woken up by everyone on your floor, plus the sound of vacuum cleaners over laminate flooring is something I couldn't sleep through.

Finally can I recommend "The Wok" Restaurant in the shopping centre downstairs from the hotel. Really nice staff and delicious food!

“Decent”

Great location by the City of Arts and Sciences, only a short walking distance away but about an hour away from the airport using the metro to Marritim-Sierra and then short bus ride away to the hotel.

The rooms are very modern and comfortable. Very clean rooms and bathroom. Free internet terminals available in small lobby.

Breakfast disappointing as it is not unlimited and very securely guarded by the waiters who were not very nice as well. Simply orange juice, coffee/tea and toast so not much variety. So I would skip the breakfast at the hotel and grab something from the mall downstairs.
