“Nothing to die for, but very well located”

This hotel is right in front of El Corte Ingles, the most famous department stores in Spain. It is also a short walk from the train station (Estacion del Nord) and has 2 underground stations nearby. In my opinion, its very central location is the best this hotel has in offer.

Because the hotel has no charm or ambiance at all: a very small reception desk occupied by apathetic staff is the only thing you will find as common areas. As other reviewers point out, Husa Llar offers (almost) no services but is a good option for those traveling for business that will only stay in the hotel during the night. Valencia's nightlife is just steps from the front door so there is no need to stay inside if you don't feel like. I would never stay here with my family but as a solo traveler I find it is a good option specially because of its location and connection with public transport.

The hotel is clean and acceptable, except for minor ditails like the carpet in the room and it overall tasteless decoration. Free internet access is a good thing, and works simply fast!

My experience was not noisy, as other reviewers point out. I was staying on the 6th floor, in a room facing the back inner courtyard which probably made it more silent than others. I was there for 3 nights and the silence during the night was complete.

So, summing all up...

Good things: Free high speed internet wireless, central location, big room with writing table, clean, cheap (or at least fairly good value for money), flat brand new TV, free locker and affordable minibar.

Not so good: breakfast is nothing special, unexisting common spaces, expensive car parking and unfriendly staff.

“Good Location, Average Room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2010

I spent a few nights here as part of a trip to the Valencia area. The hotel is close to the train station and just outside of the old city center, so the location is great. This was my main criteria for choosing this hotel, and it was fine.
The closest metro station is Colon, but you can do alot of sightseeing by foot in the old city, main market, Mercado Colon, and taking frequent buses out to the Ciencias y Artes area, so only took the metro once to go to the beach.
The room seemed a bit rundown, the A/C was very cold, walls seemed thin and the staff on duty were unsure on how to set up a wakeup call for my early departure my third day. Finally, the third time desk clerk I asked gave me instructions on using the room's phone to program the wakeup call, which worked fine but how come the other staff were clueless? I speak Spanish so it wasn't a language issue.
I think, for the price, one could find a nicer place, but if proximity to the train station is important, then this hotel would suit.

“Close to train station. OK, impersonal chain hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2009

Like others I found some of the desk staff rude. However, I was speaking English and I think the evening staff was comfortable replying no to every question. The first young woman at the desk attempted to assist us with Sunday night dining in the area. El Cortes Ingles (large department store) across the street has a large supermarket in the basement. the area is a downtwon business center but a few blocks away are lovely parks. The room was clean, with very comfortable bed, and thin-walled. OK for a short stay and a bargain at a last minute 50 Euros.

“Rude Staff”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2009

First time visiting Valencia, and chose this hotel at the recommendation of a friend. While the location was decent and the hotel was clean and the rooms decent, it was a bit far from the main attractions / plazas, and the staff were so rude and unhelpful, especially the restaurant staff, and the afternoon shift guy. Be very careful in Valencia, I was almost robbed, and stopped a guy from stealing another girls bag as she stupidly left it on the floor while she ate in McDonalds. Valencia was the only city in Spain (out of 8) that i visited where i felt unsafe. I cut my trip short by almost a week because I disliked this city so much, pretty much everywhere I went i ran in to rude people. Don't bother with the lousy internet cafe opposite the main train station, they are the rudest people, and their internet is way overpriced. There are cheaper internet cafes in the centre of town.
