“Lovely hotel, great location!”

Stayed here as a family with a teenager at Easter time, 2011. Very pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Public areas are spacious and modern. Our room didn't appear to have been modernised, and they were clearly surprised at Reception when we arrived as a three!! But an extra bed was placed in the room very quickly and we STILL had plenty of space in there! :) Room was clean, bathroom was fine, no problems!
Very close to where you need to be in Valencia, lots of choice around for drinks and eating out. Staff were very friendly ....great with our teenagers repeated requests for Internet access in the room!
All-in-all....a lovely hotel , would stay there again if visiting Valencia :)

“Quiet in the heart of Valencia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We spent a week in this hotel during a trip that combined business and leisure. Having been in Valencia many times and having stayed in several hotels, I would say that it is hard to imagine a more central location. Just at a small square and the crossing of six streets behind the Plaza de Ayuntamento, close to historic sites, shops, restaurants, buses, metro, station. Comfortable, with features of big and small, modern and classical, new and old. Very friendly and helpful staff, quiet and spacious rooms, an excellent top-roof breakfast restaurant with great views and nice food. The hotel also has a good restaurant. What could be improved: WiFi internet, which is fee but very slow.

“Quiet place in the center of Valencia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We chose this hotel for its location in a small square in the very centre of Valencia, near to the Ceramic Museum and other famous sightseeings of Valencia. The first night we got a room near the elevator which was rather stuffy as the air conditioning was not working properly.
We complained the next morning, and promptly were shifted to a better room where the a)c was woking properly. This room was very bright and facing the road. Buffet breakfast on the 9th floor was good and included eggs prepared to your taste. The view of Valencia's roof tops was spectacular. For a good start of the day, a flute of cava (sparkling wine) was available in a cooler bowl!

“Nice Hotel in a Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

Stayed at the Astoria Palace for a weekend in Dec 2011 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a great value hotel.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel location is brilliant- bang in the centre of Valencia so really convenient for exploring the lovely city centre. Great for shops as well.

It is also in a great location for public transport- about 3 mins walk from the metro and taxis and buses can be caught 50 metres away in the main City Hall Square (Plaza del Ayuntamiento).

I would recommend paying the small supplement for the recently renovated rooms in the upper floors (we stayed on the 7th floor). The room was very comfortable with a lovely big bed, well furnished and had a nice wet room. All very clean. Satellite TV.

Breakfast is worth getting- if you pre-book you get a discount. The restaurant is on the top floor (9th) and has great panoramic views over the city centre.

I will definitely be staying there again the next time we are in Valencia.

Room Tip: Rooms on upper floors 7th and 8th are nicer due to more recent renovation.

“Superb location, modern rooms, but...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

The real score is 3,5- but TA does not give this option. In general we had a great stay with the few "but’s". The location is great , the stuff is friendly and knowledgeable. We booked a superior( upper) room, so it was renovated, stylish and spacious with comfortable beds. But the shower was a complete disaster. First of all there is no door to the bathroom. And not shower door ( or at least a curtain)either( there is a door to the toilet, do not worry, but your knees and your nose almost touch the glass when seating on the toilet). It gets a bit cold when you shower. And there is no shower cabin or tray- the water runs down directly to the floor- and it naturally floods the bathroom. We had to put one of the towels provided in front of the shower to prevent flooding.
There is no mini-bar in the room, which we 100% expected to find in a superior room of a 4- start hotel. They do bring you 2 small bottles of water daily, but it is being placed on a bed-side table.
Wi-Fi issue is an interesting one. You have to get a log-in and a password from reception to log-in for free. The password is valid for 24 hours, but you have to enter the log-in and password every single time you decide to use the internet. Provided that both words are with upper and lower cases and with figures, it does take a bit of your time to log-in( just one mistake with a upper\lower case and you have to start again. The main problem with the Wi-Fi connection is that it is VERY slow. We could not talk on Skype at all and it could take up to 2-3 minutes just to load an e-mail page. If you want to send a letter with the attachment you will spend ages waiting. So this hotel is definitely not for business travelers who are used to doing some work in hotel room.

The last small issue to be mentioned- I mentioned in my booking that we are coming to Valencia to celebrate out 10th wedding anniversary but the hotel did not leave a card or a note or anything else the decent 4-star hotels normally do ( at least we have been treated to something special during our previous anniversary trips) .

We did not book breakfast so can not comment on that.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a Upper room- it is worth it. Ask for a room far away from the elevators if you are a...
