“I have been to lots of pleces, but this one is my favourite”

Excellent hotel. Not the best one, but the La Calaga beach is awesome. It also have nice pool, and good are around it. Do not go to the pool in the evening it gets really dirty. Best hotel In Calpe for families people who want to relax and feel happy. Calpe is my favourite place, where I can relax and have fun. I came lots of times before, and this visit won't be the last. It is the place where I understand that the life is perfect.

“Wonderful Galetamar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2011

This was the third time we've been to Galetamar and it won't be our last. The quality of the Hotel was exceptional and the service from the staff was excellent. We have recommended it to friends and will continue to do so. Definately worth a stay, even the Bungalows with their own gardens are a delight.

“Cheerful, middle-aged hotel near beach”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

I picked Galetamar based on the reviews below, and the hotel deserves a more recent review to confirm what's already been said. At the edge of Calpe, the hotel is located 100 metres from a small sandy beach on turquoise water and next to where a beautiful coastal path starts and continues until Benissa.

Opened in 1983, Galetamar in itself is clean, unpretentious and run by staff that are courteous and helpful no matter how rushed they (often) are. The garden/pool area is enjoyable and breakfast is varied. Outdoor shaded parking is free for guests but expect to troll around a couple of times to find a spot in the summer. Rooms on the 'seaview' side of the building are better - not only for the view but for their distance from the kitchen and nighttime entertainment - we were on the mountainside on the 2nd floor and smelled the food from our balcony. Entertainment is low-key (live singer with accompaniment near the pool) and ends at 11pm.

The only drawback to the hotel, which of course won't be one for some, is the presence of - literally - dozens and dozens of small children. It seems like every guest is a Spanish family with 2 or 3 children under the age of ten. The breakfast room can get somewhat loud - best to go early when Spanish people are still in bed. The pool is also quieter between 2 and 4, during the Spanish lunch hour.

“loved the galetamar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2008

I Took my father who is 80 and myself 46 to calpe in june 2008 and found ths hotel & area to suit all our needs, my father not being as mobil as he once was however depending on what kind of holiday your looking for this hotel has a very few english staying here so dont expect karoka & bingo etc.The hotel is extremly clean in every area set in a quite location with surcure gate for guests. We had two separate rooms & everything in the rooms work they are roomy with large balconys and a great jet shower with piping hot water all day. Food times are very good giving atleast 3 hours each meal we never had to que for food or drinks. Food cooked fresh every day & varied choice, for all tastes but nothing to grand. The pool & garden area are quite large with enoung room for every one with fantastic plants plus they have a life guard on everyday. There is entertainment laid on every day but the night time is more for the children. But there is no nosie in your rooms unless you is over looking the pool in a family room but its not that loud & ends around 11.30ish .If you leave the hotel by the side of the pool you will come to main road and the sea here you have a small beach you can lay on your towel & paddle at same time but its very clean with toilet & beach foot shower but to your right with in walking distance on a flat flagged pormade is a massive white sandy beach with loads of shops Bars hotels & eating placers, on your way there is a balling area were all the old folkes can meet & play also pleanty of public loo,s. To the left of hotel if you walk up the hill you will find a cliff top walk taking you to the diving school wear you can hiring all kinds of water spot equipment etc its a beautifull walk which my 80 year old father manged at a slow pace 3 times in the week. One tip is take a parasol or one of them tiny sun tents with you or buy cheap on there, there,s only a hand full of parasols for hire, nearly every one brings there own they are very light weight even my dad could carry one they just twist into the sand.
There are pleanty of walks to take plus there is a little white train comes every hour & takes you to the other side of the clape rock where you will find a even bigger beach cost 4 euros return each. you will find this out the back entrance next to pool go on main road turn right as if going to main large beach then there a bus stop round the corner stay there you will see it coming up the hill. In all for a nice quite holiday with pleanty of relaxing things to do this was excellent. Only bad point is hotel is one a half hours away from airport so transfees are expensive we paid 120 euros return with www.realbenidorm.net/qcars Q Cars Benidorm [--]
Mobile: [--] they was very reliable as are flight going was delayed by 6 hours & the driver still waited. hope this helps somone have a great time we would return.

“Galetamar in June 08”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 June 2008

My stay was from 14th-21st June. It was a nice hotel but the stay was marred by the noise of rooms being refurbished while we were there. We asked to be moved because they were fitting a new bathroom in room next door and we were moved to a bigger (+quieter!) room. Unfortunately, the next day they started painting a room nearby and the fumes were quite strong. The staff were pleasant and did well to understand us as we don't speak Spanish. The breakfast buffet was excellent, with plenty to choose from but the dinner buffet costs €17 each so don't bother unless you're really hungry - single meals on the menu only cost €5. The cleaning service was good and the rooms were quite spacious with perfect black out curtains. The pools were great and a lifeguard is always nearby. The hotel *is* on a hill as other reviews mention, but it's really short so you can make it! We had a hire car and there was ample parking. I will definitely go back to Calpe, the whole holiday was fantastic, but would phone ahead to the hotel to ask if they'll be doing more refurbishing before booking.
