I picked Galetamar based on the reviews below, and the hotel deserves a more recent review to confirm what's already been said. At the edge of Calpe, the hotel is located 100 metres from a small sandy beach on turquoise water and next to where a beautiful coastal path starts and continues until Benissa.
Opened in 1983, Galetamar in itself is clean, unpretentious and run by staff that are courteous and helpful no matter how rushed they (often) are. The garden/pool area is enjoyable and breakfast is varied. Outdoor shaded parking is free for guests but expect to troll around a couple of times to find a spot in the summer. Rooms on the 'seaview' side of the building are better - not only for the view but for their distance from the kitchen and nighttime entertainment - we were on the mountainside on the 2nd floor and smelled the food from our balcony. Entertainment is low-key (live singer with accompaniment near the pool) and ends at 11pm.
The only drawback to the hotel, which of course won't be one for some, is the presence of - literally - dozens and dozens of small children. It seems like every guest is a Spanish family with 2 or 3 children under the age of ten. The breakfast room can get somewhat loud - best to go early when Spanish people are still in bed. The pool is also quieter between 2 and 4, during the Spanish lunch hour.
