We were travelling as a party of 6, (3 couples) for a long weekend to coincide with the Fiesta, and could not have found a better place to stay. The reception staff were both friendly and helpful at all times, and I cannot understand the negative comments from 'Montigobay' on this site. Regarding menus in spanish, what a surprise! You're in a spanish hotel in Spain for Gods sake. I'm not sure this person was actually in this place, balconies crumbling? - No, perfectly solid! Almost all the rooms have twin beds which can be put together as a double if you request, but perhaps attitudes towards staff may receive a better response. All six of us were extremely impressed with the attentiveness of the young receptionist (Tatiana), always greeting us with a smile and "can I help please".
The hotel is in a perfect location at the edge of the old town, and well away from the embarrassing and sometimes disgusting behaviour of some of our fellow Brits at the tatty end of the resort. NEVER go round the crap bars in new town when England have just beaten Spain!! Although I will say, if you drink the spirits in the new town, you could probably drive back, there's more alcohol in a packet of Maynards wine gums.
The old town is totally different, the streets were decorated up for the Fiesta, and there were fireworks, (boy were there fireworks), more like explosions, and we didn't really appreciate them at 8.00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings heralding the start of the festivities. But at night, the lovely little tapas bars were in full swing, and mingling with the locals was fantastic, a short walk up to the plaza overlooking the harbour and bay for amazing views, the Hotel is in the perfect location.
We all agreed this will be our choice next time in Benidorm.
