I booked 9 months in advance for an 11 night stay, requesting a high floor with a street view. On arrival, I was asked to stay at the hotel opposite instead. When I said I wanted the apartment I had booked, I was given one on the 1st floor overlooking the service yard.
There was on over riding stench of bad drains throughout the place. Some days it was bearable-others it was not.
The rooms are very basic, the sofa & the bed very very uncomfortable, the towels like sand paper.
Those with a street view will suffer noise from the very busy pedestrian street below- those with a courtyard view will be much quieter.
The courtyard apartments have almost no natural light & you will get a 7am wake up call every day from the maid rattling the service trolley across the courtyard, filling buckets of water & chatting, this takes place daily 7-715am.
Many tour operators (including mine) describe the apartments as 4 star. They are NOT. The apartments are registered as 2 keys, with the hotel opposite as 4 star.
I would imagine the apartments only get 2 keys thanks to the facilities of the hotel. As a guest of the apartments you can use the wifi, bar, lounge, pool, & sun deck of the hotel. Otherwise, they would be lucky to get 1 key.
In general they clean the apartments at least once a week & change the towels every other day.( No T towel provided either) It is pretty clean despite the dreadful bad drain smell.
Only the lounge area has air con/heating so the bedrooms can be cold or hot.
On arrival you will need €60 deposit & the safe costs €1.80 per day + €6 deposit. The safe is old & most laptops will not fit in.
If you want the old town part of Benidorm, this place is a great location.
It maybe OK for a couple of days-but I found 12 days too uncomfortable in this place.
Dark room, no view, smelly, sandpaper towels, no comfy chair/seat & back breaking bed.
The place needs a facelift, new towels, drains fixed, new beds & sofas & in house wifi.
I would not stay here again, the hotel may have been a better choice after all. Next time I will find better in the old town.
It's a shame, it could be a great place, but seems to be stuck in the 1970s

Avenida apartments are in a great location, one street away from the Playa Levante and right in the heart of the old town shops. The staff all speak great English which is always a bonus. The apartment was spotless throughout. Always plenty of fresh towels as I think the management are aware that the shower facilities whilst fabulous in the Summer are not equipped for Winter when the floor takes a long time to dry as there isn't a real shower cubicle, just a shallow tray with a curtain. If I had to give it a minus that would be it, so if management read these reviews I'd ask them to think about spending a few bob on installing shower cubicles.
The beach was great, clean clear water, marvellous soft sand. Even in December we were fortunate enough to get temperatures of 21-22 deg. during our stay.
I am not one for returning to resorts once visited as there is a big worlkd out there, so I can't say as others do that they would return to Avenida apartments, however, if you're on a tight budget go for it, they give you a proper Spanish feel although you are only moments away from the bars etc. on the seafront and a cab ride from Benidorm Palace and the mad English pubs if that's your thing.

We had a great time again. The apartment was spotless with plenty of clean towels and beds changed regular. It is in a superb location in the old town, within easy walking distance to everything. The Mercado supermarket is 3 minutes walk away. The beach is 2 minutes away. The only problem in summer would be the small water tank, it is only big enough for 1 shower. We work around this but in the summer if 5 of us wanted a shower when coming off the beach it would be a problem.

Stayed here with family Summer 2011. We had a two bedroom apartment on second floor and whilst initially impressed with the location this very quickly underminded by a list of unacceptable problems. Firstly,our room was still occupied when we arrived so spent our first night living out of our suitcases in the hotel opposite, second was the stench that seemed to linger in the corridors, a hot water system that at best showers one person every 3 hours and when complained about was greeted with a shrug (warm, quick shower for daughter, tepid for wife and cold shower all week for me!!!) Noise constantly on corridors resulting in several late night altercations and constant, but to be expected, noise from outside. All in all a rather unimpressive stay, luckily we drank in a local bar in the old town and got the name of a lovely english lady who rents out here two bed apartment on the front in old town at half the price so we are giving that a try this summer. Please please please think twice about staying here people!!!!!!
