I was a little worried when I read some of the reviews but was pleasantly surprised when we got there. The room was tired, basic, dated and a little shabby, it was however immaculately clean, the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room for myself and my husband in the double bed, (and I am a large lady ;) ) We had a bit of a sort out when we arrived, moved the settee onto the enclosed balcony and moved some of the dining room chairs about to use as bedside table, lamp stand etc. We made the living room into a bedroom for our 16 year old daughter and she was very comfortable there. The TV had a couple of english channels, BBC world news and CNN and cost about a euro an hour, but the view was so spectacular you didn't need to watch the tv. The public area, reception etc were clean and tidy and the lifts modern and fast, there was also a security guy on at reception day and night and both were really friendly. The appartment we stayed in was 22A and yes there were some cracks and the odd loose bit of masonery, but that's the norm in Spain, I've been to new properties and had the same. The appartment had all you need, including washing machine, ironing board and iron, we went out and bought some mugs, the cups were too small.
Being there over Christmas and New Year the evenings were a little chilly and we did have a portable heater, but another would have been nice. The hot air heating system didn't work and I think in the summer it would get very hot, we didn't see any signs of an air conditioning unit. Because we had the sun all day it was lovely on the balcony but the back of the appartment was chilly i.e. the bedroom and bathroom
The maid came in once a week and cleaned everything, but the kitchen, and changed the beds, the linen was good quality and fresh, cleaned and ironed and we had plenty of towels and tea towels.
The very best thing about this appartment was the location, fantastic views, right on the beach and within really easy access to all the Lavente beach entertainment, but we were not disturbed by noise at any time.
If you are arriving out of working hours you will have to collect your keys from another appartment block which is about a mile away, we just instructed our airport transfer service and they took us there first and again took us back before we returned home to the airport, no problem at all. We did have to leave 150 euro's in cash on arrival but had it returned when we dropped the keys off. This is to ensure nobody goes home with the keys.
We hired a car whilst we were there and was able to park it in the appartments car park, we were asked for 20 euro's deposit for the key which we got from the reception security guy, and this opened the electronic gates into the car park, this was really useful as parking around the beach area has to be paid for and it is quite difficult to find a space, the 20 euro's were returned when we took the key back.
We really enjoyed our stay, and didn't notice the shabby (but clean) furniture after a couple of days, not even the awful 1950's pictures on the wall!!! We were comfortable, clean, had everything we needed, don't expect 4 or 5 star and you will not be disappointed, except for the views and location that was out of this world!!!!!!
We are already planning another trip and wouldn't stay anywhere other than these appartments, I think anywhere else would be disappointing, I doubt you will get a bigger balcony or better views anywhere in Benidorm no matter how much you pay ;)
Room Tip: There are three rooms per floor, ask for an A room on a higher floor
