We arrived at the Suites a bit nervous after reading the awful reviews on here, which I now find completely unjustified.
We did not have to pay a deposit on arrival (it was advertised but there was no charge)and staff were friendly enough, Our room wasn't quite ready but we were given our all inclusive card and went to get a drink.
The rooms were spacious and clean, the maids changed towels and bedding regularly.
The food at the Suites is limited in selection but it takes just a couple of minutes to get to the Rock Gardens just up the road which has much more choice.
There is no entertainment at night and only a small bar but again you can go to the Rock Gardens or walk into town to go to the Villa Benidorm which is also part of the magic chain not far from the two Sol hotels and use your all inclusive card there.
Sunbeds are limited and if you want one you need to be down by the door to the pool at about 9:45 or they will all be gone but again you can use any of the other hotels especially the Excalibur or Monika.
The walk from town can be steep but try out the surrounding roads some are less steep than others.
We felt like we got what we paid for - why would you expect 4/5* on a 3* budget

We've just stayed at the Tropicana Suites for a week and had a great time!
The rooms are basic but more than adequate with plenty of room and hot water.
We stayed All Inclusive and paid £170 for the week including flights so didn't expect alot.
However we were very pleasantly surprised with what we got! We ate at Hotel Rock Gardens, a 5 minute walk away, as the food had more selection. There are seven hotels in Benidorm, all part of The Magic Group, that you can use.
The kids are well catered for with good sized swimming pools and climbing frames. Also there is a daytime club for them and entertainment in the evenings.
My daughter loved the magician!
Hotel is also close to Mundomar and Aqualandia which we visited and highly recommend, tip for these is to buy cheap vouchers on ebay before hand you save 16 euros per person entrance fee!
All in all a great time was had by all!

We were mis-sold this place as an "all inclusive" hotel, when infact it is apartments and we would have had to go to its sister hotel for the "All inclusive" benefits.
We were dropped at the front gate and from there on in I think every negative comment about this place so far happened to us. The rudeness, the smell, the dirt, the requirement of a deposit etc etc etc. We refused to stay and went up to the sister hotel to sort out the problem, the woman on the reception there laughed when we said we had just been to the "tropicana suites" and we explained our problems.
To cut a 6 hr story short, we walked out, stayed elswhere and took the travel company that sold us the holiday to court; (claim number 8QZ17212) for breaking the contract ie, the hotel was not all inclusive. Little did we know that "holidays" is one of those oddities that you can claim for distress, otherwise our award would have been greater.
War torn Gaza would be preferable to experiencing this place. I bet even David Blaine would struggle to survive here.
My advice, take pictures, take notes and take your holiday company to the small claims court if you aren't happy. This place is unbelievably, shockingly awful, and I wasn't even allowed to see a room.

myself and my friends stayed here for 4 days, our room and 5 other rooms on the first floor were robbed. i had sterling money and my bank card taken from my locked suit case which was locked back up again. however we were lucky as some of the other holiday makers had absolutely everything taken on them like, mobile phones and euros etc. The hotel staff were not very helpful at all, i believe it was an inside job as there wasnt much reaction from the staff. the sun also doesnt really catch the suites, if only for 2 hours at most. there was also a very steep hill that we had 2 walk up to get our meals etc, so we ended up just eating in town centre. the all inclusion drinks were very watered down so your not really getting what you paid for. however Benidorm is a lovely place and we will be back there, defo not in this hotel. we will chose more carefully next time!!!!!
