“XCELLENT LOCATION,BUT FOOD VERY BASIC AND REFURB TOO CLINICAL”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2011

If you want a no frills hotel with basic food and service this is for you.The renovation of the hotel up to now is very clinical, the reception, bar and dare I say restaurant are all black and white.Even all the staff uniforms are black T shirts with hotel logo printed in white.Even the restaurant staff, Restaurant very basic, small white laminated tables,NO TABLECLOTHS OR NAPKINS.You collect a paper placemat and your cutlery on entrance, choose a table, set it up,then go to buffet
Food ok.Breakfast good choice of continental, plus corn and bran flakes, bacon, eggs, and toaster for bread or rolls.
Lunch,Salads cold meats cheeses, meatballs burgers etc. Dinner, stews fish. All good but, could be a little more choice. But I must say in the hotels favour,YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! I stayed 14 days full board with wine for less than £460.And that included Christmas AND new year!! No special menu's put on,but that's how I like it NO FUSS!!

“Great location, but......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2011

A New Year, 4 night break with family and friends staying in this hotel was a real treat - who wouldn't feel it a treat to be abroad for a New Year celebration with family and friends!?

We'd stayed there last year and had a street facing view with a balcony, which I had requested via e-mail on this occasion. Needless to say everyone else got a street facing balcony except for us! The hotel has had a face lift and from the outside looks very stylish, all monocrome and very shiny!!

However! The food, served in the basement, (we only had breakfast) was pretty poor compared to many of the other hotels in Benidorm, the rooms, whilst cleaned daily, were shabby and in need of some TLC (rust on the loo and in the bath, grouting looked a bit dodgy, shower hook off the wall so nowhere to hang the shower head) - 1 plug socket - nowhere near to the mirror and for us, in an internal room, very dark and a bit depressing!

You could hear every toilet flush, every tooth brushed, every chair moved - it's the noisiest hotel I've ever been to and as most of the guests were Spanish OAPs, they weren't partying all night long!

The staff (though we only ever really saw one person - the receptionist) were very pleasant and the location in the old town was great for where we wanted to be for New Year.

We had fabulous weather and a great mini break but.........

would I stay there again...... probably not, I think it would be money well spent adding a little more cost to the holiday and staying elsewhere.

“good clean hotel, in a good location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

the best points about this hotel for me were, the cleanliness and the location, the rooms were fine, but you wouldn't want to spend a long time in them, the hotel was clean, with new towels everyday, the location was great, only 2 minutes from the beach, and 5 seconds from the bars and tapas restaurants in the narrow streets of the old town. the bad points aren't really that bad, it caters mainly for spanish people, we only met one other english person and that was on our last day, nobody on the staff spoke fluent english, so it was hard at times making yourself understood, as much our fault as theres I suppose, there is no pool, but the beach is that close we wouldn't have used it anyway, we went full board, but we did eat out quite a lot, there wasn't a lot of choice compared to other hotels I've stayed in, but most of the food I tried was nice enough, you wouldn't go hungry, but if your looking for english breakfasts and the like, you had to go elsewhere, the restaurant itself was more like a works canteen, clean but very basic, it is a decent hotel, but the lack of englishness might put some people off.

“Great location and food was excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2010

I stayed here for 4 nights with my 16 year old daughter. The location was great right near both beaches, we went to the small beach as it is a more relaxed atmospere. The food in the hotel was spanish and we were in spain afterall and both myself and my daughter loved it, there was a good choice and the staff were very friendly. We travelled to the old town at night for the pubs etc which is approx 6 euro. My only complaint would be the air conditioning it was rubbish and not worth being on as the room was far to hot at all times. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel is mainly filled with spanish people but they were very friendly and always said hello.

“A fab way to start 2010”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2010

Got a deal on a 4 night break at this hotel. It is in the ideal location for us preferring to spend our evenings in the Old Town. The reception staff were superb one gentleman in particular who was also the bar man poured lovely measures of brandy! The room was large with plenty of storage space and the general standard of cleanliness was excellent. We had bed and breakfast in our deal but only managed it once and then it was just 'ok'. To be fair it does cater for the Spanish in the main and I'm sure they're all suited but its not what the Brits expect at breakfast in Benidorm. So as long as you know that its fine- theres so much choice around that you can afford to ditch the hotel experience and go out! It does get noisy through the night as we were there over New Year we were late to bed anyway so it didnt both us. There was one morning when the road cleaner was around at 5am hosing the streets- couldve done without that- but thats the price you pay for staying in the Old Town!
Would go back like a short for a short break a great base for a fab holiday!
