i went to Calas Marina with my 2 children (aged 8 and 19) and we all thoroughly enjoyed. I had previously read reviews of people complaining its very "spanish" with "spanish food" - well it is SPAIN. We enjoyed the breakfast (we were only B&B), there was a choice of cold meats, cheeses, toast, cereals, hot food such as sausage, bacon, eggs, then there were cakes, yogurt etc. it took me a while to figure which coffee i liked from the machine as there is a huge selection of drinks. i found this very amusing.
our room was on the 6th floor and was very clean. it had 4 beds, plenty of storage space, tv, bathroom/shower/toilet/sink etc. and balcony. the cleaner came every day to do the beds and change towels etc. very impressed.
the pool area was also clean and not too busy. it has sun loungers, tables, chairs, umbrellas and there is some kids games ongoing throughout the day such as water football, basketball etc. where you then get a certificate in the evening.
the reception staff were all polite and very helpful and provided us with a local map and bus information, and helped with directions to the local market and Mundomar.
The bar staff were brilliant, the gent (who is married to a brit) was funny, and always chatted. they give nuts, crisps and little snacks with your drinks day and night. there is childrens entertainment in the evening (like a kids disco) but nothing really for adults, only bingo one night. But it was ideal for the kids. they loved it. (if you want disco, nightclubbing etc. go to new benidorm).
the hotel itself is really nice - no issues at all.
the local bus service is very regular and so cheap. i went by bus to lavente and cost 1 euro each. walk back is amazing across the beach front. there is a market on wed & friday well worth a visit, and we got a taxi to Mundomar, where there was an amazing dolphin show (i nearly cried) and the taxi was 10 euro each way - very cheap.
there are many, many local cafes, restaurants to eat, drink of an evening or daytime, the beach is 10 mins walk away, and i could see it from my balcony.
Ideal for a quieter holiday, for the family etc. not the raving noisy nightlife that you can get up the road in lavente (new benidorm), if you want that - dont stay in this area, as it is very pleasent, residential type setting. but lovely all the same. i would return. :)
