My partner booked this hotel for our 8th anniversary and we received confirmation email. On arrival we were told they couldn't find the booking. We asked them to check with the sister hotel just across the road but they refused, We waited 30 mins in reception, eventually my partner asked if they had any rooms which they did, so whats the problem.? Let us go to the room and sort the reservation out later.! We were given a room key and told which floor, no one showed us up, no one apologised, whole attitude very offhand.
The room was clean and had a large balcony with part sea view. I went down later to ask for info on trains to Valencia- they didn't know, didn't have any info. Attitude of staff (Enrique)miserable and unhelpful.
Dinner was O.K. not up to usual 4star spanish hotels where I have received smoked salmon and Cava for breakfastBreakfast
By contrast we found the reception staff at the sister hotel Victoria cheerful and helpful. Although we had stated we were celbrating our 8th anniversary there was absolutely no recognition of this in contrast to the Hotel Villa del Mar and Corona Del Mar where we stayed previously,who greeted us with champagne on arrival,and also a bottle to the room later.
Had we travelled out from the U.K. we would have been even more dissappointed, fortunately we have a place in spain, but it is a very shortsighted attitude of the hotel since we will now tell all our contacts not to stay there. We would not have spent a more dissappointing anniversary

Lovely clean hotel in nice area on the edge of the old town. Staff extremely friendly and helpful and bar staff excellent. Happy hour a real must, Food was very nice but the hot buffet breakfast was usually only lukewarm. Evening meals seemed hotter and a better selection. It is a shame the hotel didn't have an indoor pool, and that evening entertainment was poor, but that may have been due to our trip being out of season. Would definitely recommend this hotel, and will stay again when we are next in Benidorm.

Had a 3 night break - Fabulous, and happy hours are great.

This is a first class hotel well positioned on the outskirts of the old town and a 5 mins. walk from the Levante beach.. We stayed in January 2012 and had a great time. Rooms v clean and comfortable beds. Excellent food with a good choice. Can think of no negatives t apply to this hotel. Will be staying again ijn February - already booked!!.
Tip There is a shuttle bus from Airport to Hotel Poseidon (short walk to Hotel Royal) costs 5 euros.
