“My wife booked this but I have forgiven her!”

I am a bit late with this review. This was the first time my wife had booked a holiday using the internet. It was all done rather quickly and quietly as a surprise. The receptionist was very courteous but not particularly helpful and we were unable to get a seaview room even though I had received an email informing me that we had been allocated one.
The location is the saving grace of this hotel. We were staying half board and because we both know Benidorm we knew all the right places to eat.
All the comments regarding the noise in the side streets are absolutely true. The bar had very strange opening times that seemed to suit the staff rather than the guests. Our main complaint was the speed at which the plates were whipped off the table, the second you had finished, or appeared to have finished!
We love old Benidorm and have been back there but not to The Mar Blau. It is worth paying a bit extra to stay about 50 yards to the right, at the Villa del Mar.

Room Tip: I think a seaview room is essential.

“Small, but perfectly formed”

Lovely hotel, great sea views - meals were much better than most at this price, and because of the very reasonable prices we paid for 6 nights half board and then went out for 2 evenings to enjoy benidorm's restaurants - ideally situated for all old town ameneties - on the downside, walls were very thin and the bar was not always manned for coffee's during the day, although there was a machine - staff were really efficient and helpful - a real Gem!!

First stay here.Staff were smashing, genuine with a smile.Location could not be better.Never mind you have got to have a room with a view, the restaurants view whilst having a meal, made up for it handsomley. The food was super, hot, fresh and plenty of it.If you want a la carte, tough it aint here, leaving us to pick anytime we want to return. Not a place for children to run amok,we left the grankids at home!!
Keep quiet about this gem

Fantastic little hotel superb staff so friendly nothing was a problem
We were there for Christmas, arrived 24th to fantastic sunshine and gorg veiw from our balcony. Xmas day lunch was amazing, great company as well .
Small and older crowd but so much fun. Very central for both old and new town. And we were lucky enought to have fantastic weather esp for the time of year.
Will def be back xxx

Room Tip: Ask for high floor for the most amazing views and to be ablt to see sunset

“still as good as ever!”

mar blau is classed as a 2 star, probably due to it lacking a pool or garden but don't dismiss it and read the reviews!
A sea view room is a must so make sure you pay the extra!
We stayed boxing day until new years day and the new years eve gala buffet was brilliant! The food just kept on coming and the wine never stopped flowing!
The staff are friendly and everywhere is kept spotless!

This is a popular hotel with the Spanish and if you like Spanish food and don't need loads of different dishes to choose from then you will appreciate this little gem of a hotel!
I am certainly thinking of staying here again! well done Mar Blau!

Room Tip: sea view room a must, high as possible!
