Reading the reviews, although clicking for Torremar Apartments in Benidorm, we seem somehow to get reviews for elsewhere so do not reflect correctly on Benidorm property, which is excellent, very, very clean and central. We are rather fussy couple but would definitely go to Torremar Apartments, Derramador Avde. Benidorm again.
Our apartment was situated on the ground floor. It was generally dirty but the most disgusting aspect was the fact that their were hairs and general dirt in all the beds. Also, the beds were so hard we would proably have been better off sleeping on the floor. The bedding was smelly as well as visibly dirty so we all slept under our own towels from home. There was no hanging space for clothes at all in one bedroom and in the other room the wardrobe was full of satined smelly bed clothes so there was no room to hang anything in there either.
In the bathroom the shower curtain was rusted and mouldy. We considered buying a new curtain to help make the shower useable but we couldn't remove the old one, it had rusted to the pole! If you dared to walk the 3 steps from the bathroom to the bedroom bare foot your feet ended up black with dirt.
The place smelt of urine and stale water (in all rooms) and the toilet seat was green where it had never been cleaned.
The kichen was all greasy and the plates where covered in old food and grease.
The sofa bed in the front room was wet so you couldn't sit on it yet alone sleep on it. There was no Aircon. or TV, even though the apartment had been listed as having these amenities.
Finaly, to the "outside". There where no working outside light on the balcony. Only three rusty chairs (should have been 4) and a very dirty table.
Despite the fact that your brochure states "Sea View" the nearest sea/beach was at least a ten minute drive away. All you could see from our apartment was another 3 high rise buildings.
The pool was full of dead flys and other unidentifiable objects on the bottom of it. I did swim once but didn't dare to venture in again. It stated on the locked gate (which could only be locked and un locked from the outside) that the pool was only open from the 5th of June to 15th September. Had I known this at the time of booking I would not have chosen this apartment as a useable swimming pool was high on my list of priorities.
All in all a very upseting and disappointing visit to Spain. A country we love and have been visiting for many years.
The Torremar is right in the center of things in Benidorm. We stayed there on a self catering basis, but you could upgrade to HB if you wanted. The room was very spacious, clean and well kept. We had a balcony overlooking the pool. There wasnt that much noise from the streets considering its location. The pool was clean.
We had a fantastic time in Benidorm, plenty of entertainment for everyone. We also went to the animal sanctuary in the mountains, well worth the visit. We also went to Guadalest, a stunning little town mostly built into the mountain, you must go there.
We stayed at the Torremar from 10-17 October 2004. Hotel cheap and cheerful but rooms definitely in need of some money being spent. Our bathroom ceiling had a huge hole in it which had obviously been there for years and the furniture seemed very old and tatty. Also there seemed to be little charges for everything (1 euro for TV for 1 hour, 8 euros to park your car in the car park each night, 3 euros per sun bed) not expensive I know, but a bit annoying. Overall though the holiday was great fun but I would not recommend the Torremar as I think there were a lot nicer hotels around for the same price. The best thing was the two for one drinks promo every night!
