The hotel was lovely, clean and had a jacuzzi and HEATED indoor pool. That was one of the reasons I chose it, along with the fact that it's popular with the Spanish. I'm vegetarian, and although the Spanish don't really get vegetarianism, there was always plenty for me to eat. The food was plentiful and well prepared although fellow veggies should realise that often soup is cooked with fish stock (you can tell if this is the case by the smell). The staff were very friendly and helpful, even when faced with gormless guests wondering about the dining room like 'farts in trances' as my dad would put it.
The rooms were small but more than adequate. We were on the top floor and had a great view of the town from our balcony. The beds were very comfortable although they only have one (thin) pillow; you can get an extra pillow from reception if you want one.
The outdoor area was lovely although because this area of Benidorm is full of tall buildings, it was in shade by the afternoon. There was live music in the bar every night with Jim Vives. I especially enjoyed his set with the girl on the congas; they were obviously having a great time! There was also a bingo evening which was good fun, especially for my goddaughter, who won! We also saw Flamenco dancers - they were amazing!
The animation team were very friendly and welcoming. We stayed over Christmas and had a great time, along with the Spanish and English pensioners, and the Belgian families. Many guests seemed to be regulars, so obviously they like the place too! It was like a big family Christmas!

Room Tip: Get a room on a higher floor for a good view of the town and sea. The bathrooms have hairdryers. The...

“Nice hotel close to beach and town centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

Stayed at this establishment on a half-board basis during the half-marathon weekend ideal for the start/finish point, rooms had two double-beds in (one each - great!) with fantastic views from the balcony to the beach and the bays. Rooms do not have complimentary tea/coffee facilities but do have free toiletries and a digital freeview colour tv, adequate storage and clean towels provided daily. A safety deposit box is in the storage unit though at extra cost for the key from reception. The bed linen wasn't changed during our 4 nights stay there but the beds were remade daily and the room cleaned. Breakfasts and evening meals were plentiful and varied on a buffet basis you could help yourself to as much as you wanted. Some of the dishes were more for the spanish but you would expect that anyway and we like to try different cuisine. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and although most only spoke Spanish they were very patient and understanding with our limited vocabulary. The lifts took a while to respond so anyone one the higher floors need to be patient (we were on the 11th floor) but the views were outstanding. There is a pool/jacuzzi and small gym room on the lower ground floor and a bar and lounge/dancefloor and outside pools and seating. On the ground floor there is the restaurant and soft seating/reception and some casual table/chairs and a piano for anyone wanting to relax after a day out. Transfer coaches stop right outside though there are several steps to negotiate to the main entrance/reception area. There is also underground and open deck secured car parking. You can join in the daily dance activities and social events in the adjoining partner hotel if you wish. Overall a nice stay and would return and recommend.

Room Tip: If you are able rooms on the higher floors have much better views

“Poseidon."Oor"hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

Going back to the Poseidon on 17th Sept. for 7th or 8th time. My wife and I first stayed here along with three other couples about 12 yrs. ago. Yes,it does cater more for the Spanish guests but what would you expect when they make up about 85% of the clientele? However we have never experienced any feelings of being ignored or unhelpfulness, quite the contrary in fact. We have always found all the staff very pleasant and willing to help. If it weren't so we wouldn't keep going back!
What's so wrong about Spanish people being there? It is Spain after all! They are entitled to a holiday as well. If I wanted a holiday with wall to wall Brits then I would stay at home!.......... What am I saying! It's Benidorm we're talking about!
For the last six years we have taken our grandson with us. He is now 10 yrs old and loves this hotel,so much so, that when we say we are going to Benidorm he says,Only if we go to "oor" hotel! Even though he can't speak the language he has always managed to make friends with the other children and played with them daily for the time we were there. Language is no barrier to kids who want enjoy themselves!
The restaurant is buffet style with varied menu and I can't believe that people can't find something to their taste. Some nights, at least once a week, a carvery with freshly cooked legs of ham or roast pork. Always two types of soup and a range of sweets. As someone stated previously ample fresh fruit. Drinks are waiter service and orders are taken as soon as you have taken your seat, provided the place isn't extremely busy! Tip, dine early as the Spanish people tend to make dinner a social occassion and their mealtimes can last until the entertainment starts! Speaking of entertainment, I must agree that it is mainly Spanish orientated. They do like their culture! But the M.C. is always on hand to explain to "us foreigners" what is happening and what it's all about and before the "serious" stuff starts there is always at least an hour for the children such as kids disco or comic acts from the entertainment staff. Last time we were there they had a birds of prey exhibition. Yes, with live birds! The kids were fascinated. As were more than a few adults!
The hotel is in fact two hotels, the original Poseidon and the newer Palace, the upside being there are two large pools and two childrens' pools and plenty of sun loungers and if you can't get a lounger then that means that the pool area is full! There are sporting activities during the day such as pistol and rifle shooting and archery which the older kids are encouraged to take part in,supervised of course!
The hotel is situated at the bottom end of Levante beach close to, but not in, the old town if you want to ramble around authentic Spanish shops or tapas bars. Levante beach is five minutes walk and all the clubs and bars are 10 to 15 minutes walk depending on how fit you are! If that's too far you will find The Tower just around the corner with a variety of comedians and singers appearing nightly or if you prefer something a wee bit louder then try "Heartbreak" for live rock and blues afternoon and night or "Daytona" both of which are 5 mins. walk away at the beach.
Can't think of anything I dislike about Poseidon. Great location. every room with balcony, pleasant friendly staff, rooms cleaned daily, handy for the "Old Town" and at the quiter end of Levante beach resulting in no rowdies or discos. So you will get a good kip ready for the next day. Buenos Noches!

“Lovely Hotel”

Just come back from Benidorm after a short break staying at Poseidon and was a little worried after reading the reveiws. However I should not have worried at all, the rooms were very clean and the staff were all very freindly. The food was very euopean and if that is not too your taste then you would probably struggle, but there is always meat cheese and fruit to eat so you wouldn't starve. The only downside was the entertainment in the evening as this is very Spanish and the man with the organ every night is a little tedious. After saying this the hotel is only a short walk from the front where there are lots of bars with good music, especially the heartbreak hotel which plays rock.
