We stayed at the Poseidon Playa from 23rd-30th October. We didn't really take much notice of the negative reviews for this hotel as a family member has stayed there before so we knew what to expect! The hotel far exceeded our expectations - it is kept spotlessly clean, maids very thorough. Food great - yes it is geared towards the Spanish but there is plenty of choice every mealtime and never boring! We did not really take part in the entertainment as we preferred to go for a walk in the evening and experience the spanish bars, however drinks in the hotel bar were very reasonable especially the cocktails.
Receptionists were very helpful - we wanted to book a boat trip to Tabarca and they rang the harbour to see if it was running that day. Unfortunately it wasn't, so we went to Alicante by train instead - again a very easy process and very reasonably priced.
Views from the rooms are superb - we were on the 11th floor but would recommend going higher if possible.
All in all a superb stay - we will recommend to all our family and friends and I am already looking to go back in 2012.

Hard to fault this Hotel & will happily return next year.Friendly & helpful staff , spotlessly clean all over, great location, decent food, what more do you need? Sure it has a lot of Spanish guests but so what? Complaining about that is like holidaying in a Blackpool hotel & complaining it's full of Brits! My wife & I really enjoyed the friendly, cosmopolitan atmosphere of the Poseidon Playa with guests from all over Europe & Canada.Another plus point was the very reasonable drinks prices which were often cheaper than local bars. Rooms are clean & comfortable, if a little basic. Safe & fridge hire are available, all rooms have a nice sea view. Excellent, quiet location about a 15 to 20 minute stroll to the old town. We enjoyed the food which is typically Spanish in the main although they do serve chips for the Brits! Breakfast was a little naff if you are fond of a full English, typically greasy Spanish ham etc but lots of other options. we booked late for October 2011 for 67.50 euros per night which seemed pretty good value to me. I'd happily recommend this hotel for couples & families looking for a good value sunshine break

hotel was excellent, maid came in everyday,very good variety of food, no problems with spaniards we found them to be really helpful, and were a real laugh at times trying to figure out and explain what they and us were trying to say to each other.very nice quiet area of benidorm, bus stop outside hotel, or bus stop at back of hotel for going to alicante, altea or up to the waterpark, zooworld, or aquarium. would and have already recomend this hotel to anyone. ok the night entertainment was more for spanish, but it didnt stop us from enjoying ourselfs,(if the spaniards paid to come here on holiday, they would have the same problem as our entertainment is all in english).plenty outdoor markets in different areas of benidorm on different days. the marina only a 10 minute stroll for boat trips, and dont have to be booked in advance. me and my sister were on 15th floor, view is fantastic, but i have fear of heights and took me while just to go on to veranda, but once i was sitting on chair i was fine, its worth it for the view we were there from 8th to 18th october and weather was fantastic. cannot fault this hotel for anything, i will be going back.

Had no problems with the Posiedon Playa, stay there every year. Food OK, Hygiene 10 out of ten, staff very friendly, have had no problems with the Spanish as me and my wife found them to be mostly friendly. Location fantastic every room has a sea view,peaceful, not to far from Old Town, about 2km from new town. Would Highly recommend this Hotel to anyone wishing for a change from New Town, as you do not get the night time noise with holiday makers on their way back to Hotels all hours of the night.
