“Hotel nice, wrong time of Year for me”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Just got back from the Castilla,
Booked as part of package holiday with Jet2 holidays flight and transfers ran smoothly.

Reception

On arrival it was as if they were expecting me which was quite good check in went smoothly although, i was a bit perplexed about them keeping my passport (other hotels in Spain have taken photocopies and returned the passport straight away). The receptionist were very helpful telling me about the services of the hotel and location of various areas of the resort.

The room

I was allocated a room on the 10th floor overlooking the Rio park.which was ideal for me as i prefer a high floor room.
The room was of reasonable size with a TV which showed BBC 1 &2 as well as ITV, which is the first time i've seen this in a hotel in spain. Also a mini fridge for keeping your drinks cool. The bathroom was pretty standard with bath/shower, loo, basin, bidet. One addition i did notice was a rubber bathmat which is handy as i have come a cropper in showers before. Didn't experience much noise at night. Also there is free wifi available in all rooms and it ran at a good speed. Rooms were serviced every day to a high standard.

Bar/ restaurant

The bar was a bit lifeless probably due to the time of year although they did a 2 for 1 deal on drinks which was good value for money, the bar staff were friendly although i could imagine they were bored with hardly any customers. Stayed half board was a little bit disappointed with the selection available on the buffets whether this is due to it been low season, although the food was of reasonable quality and the staff were friendly.

Location
On first glance the location can be a bit off putting due to the abandoned building works and the yellow brick road was a bit eerie with a lot of empty units, but i encountered no problems. The hotel is 10 minutes down the Yellow Brick road or main road to Levante beach, 10 minutes walk to "the square", 15 minutes to the old town and 20 minute to Poniente beach.

Conclusion
The hotel was nice and comfortable, located not too far from the main attractions
would i stay again ?
Yes but not at this time due to it been too quiet, and a bit too cold to sunbathe as well as the clientel been a bit too old for me (not to say they were rude or anything).

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor

“Hotel Castilla Benidorm. Feb 2012.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

My first stay in the Castilla even though I have been to Benidorm dozens of times. This hotel does not deserve a 4 star rating.....it should be a 5 star! A spotlessly clean and pleasantly fragranced hotel, everything about it exudes peace and serenity. From the quiet reading room and comfortable lounge to the beautiful pool area and the excellent dining room everything was perfect. The food is varied and plentiful with something for everyone, the staff anywhere in the hotel are friendly and efficient and the rooms are very comfortable and warm with a fridge and flat screen TV with lots of English channels and even two top movie channels, all free. A five minute walk to the Levante beach and about the same from The Strip, just far enough away from all the noise and bustle but close enough to everything you need. I had a five day break here and came away feeling 10 years younger. Will most certainly be back soon. Highly recommended!

Room Tip: All the rooms are good.

“Return visit to the Castilla Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We were at the Castilla from the 21 - 28 January. We had moved from another sister 4 star hotel, which will be written about in another review.

We have stopped in the Castilla many times, always during the second half of January. What a difference to previous years due to the recession, which is no fault of the hotel Management.

The hotel overall was spotless, could never fault it, with the exception of the buffet, which was always luke warm, with a limited choice. But can the management be faulted, when there are only 33 guests ( all English) and the hotel can cater for in excess of 300 guests. Entertainment was only on a Friday ( sequence dancing ) and Saturday was a shade better.
It was morbid to say the least.
Previous posts have mentioned that the Castilla is no better than a 3 and a half star, certainly not a patch on a four star hotel which we stayed in the previous week ,belonging to the Servia group .. Would we return to the Castilla again "NO"

Room Tip: Always choose a room overlooking the pool to enjoy the afternoon sun - Rooms 01/06 - 11 floors.

Dear John42Manchester,

Thank you for your comment of which we have taken note.
We have to say that we are in low season, therefore, the occupation decreases in these months of the year.
At Servigroup, we understand that hotel food plays a very significant part in our guests´ holiday enjoyment, therefore time and effort has been spent by our Head Chef creating a varied menu plan.
We appologize if your stay with us didn´t meet your expectations.

Kind regards,
Customer Service.

“Quiet Oasis in mad Benidorm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2012

If you love the nightlife in Benidorm but don't want to be disturbed when you actually go to bed this is a great hotel to stay in. 10 minute walk on the flat to the strip, early evening you can walk down what is called the yellow brick road but later on would stick to the main streets. As it's not well lit. Hotel itself is fantastic very friendly staff & spotless, rooms well equipped & great that the TV has BBC1 & ITV. Free wifi just get password from reception. Underground car park 10 euros a night but at least you know car is safe. Food of a very good standard & plenty of variety, lots of fish on the menu & english sausages at breakfast! Older crowd staying no hens or stags, so that suited us fine. Two for one drinks all day in bar, premium brands 2 Gordon's gin & tonic 4.60 euro! We had dinner, couple of drinks & then headed down to the different cabaret shows on the strip. Pool area small which might be a problem in the summer but not for us. Have stayed in other hotels in Benidorm this by far is the best will definitely be back

“Really good hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

I would go along with the last two reviews. We have just returned after spending Christmas and New Year there and I was a little apprehensive but went on previous reviews which were spot-on. Yes, there are slight problems with the road but that is due to the Curtural Centre being built across from the hotel but money has since run out and no work has apparently been done for almost two years, leaving six huge cranes towering into the sky. The hotel is absolutely spotless and within close walking distance to most places. Really friendly and helpful staff throughout the hotel. The Gala Dinners were quite good and some entertainment better than others but the 2 for 1 offer in the bar until April 2012 made it worthwhile having a drink or three at the hotel as the prices are very competitive even with the cheapy bars. The good thing about the hotel drinks are they are all decent brands, including the spirits, unlike the rubbish you get in the smaller bars where neat paintstripper can be sometimes served from Smirnoff botttles. Don't go if you want to sit in the hotel bar until late as the bar closes at midnight however, there are plenty of other bars nearby that stay open late if you are a night owl. The food began to get repeatative after 10 days but when you are full board, eating in the same place can become boring at any hotel. It is a good idea to still have the odd meal in a nearby restaurant or in the old town. The hotel has Sky Sports in the bar and BBC and ITV channels in the bedrooms. I would certainly go again and would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Benidorm..

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the pool get the afternoon sun, the ones overlooking the Rio Park get the morning...
