“Even for a lads birthday weekend this was terrible!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

Firstly, we went on a lads brithday weekend so we weren't expecting the ritz...But we definately didn't expect this!

When we arrived the hotel reception door was locked (10am) and the only other way in was crawling underneath a broken security fence. Which we did and went straight into the pool area and accessed the hotel through a back door. There was no receptionist just a scruffy bloke behind a bar who greeted us with 'What do you d***s want' we told him who we were he just got some keys from behind the bar and just handed us them...we didn't have to leave anything with him or even show him some ID!

As we walked up to our room (The lift was broken) two lads passed us and asked us 'You stopping here we told them yes and they told us not to bother as they'd be there three nights and been burgled twice!

When we finally got to our rooms all the doors obviously had been broken into numerous times as each lock and the area around the locks had been replaced with the looks of it 100s of times.

The rooms were a disgrace, the fridge was black, the beds stunk, the shower didn't didn't work, was rusty! The only bit that was good was the balcony...But that was we moped it with some cheap towels we'd bought!

Opposite and next door are some Spanish night clubs and bars....So don't expect any sleep and some peace and quite on a night / morning.

Room Tip: The only good room, is the exit

“underated...don't believe the stick!”

My partner and I booked this apartment primarily due to the low price, in October last year.
We didn't expect much from it as it was rated two stars , as we were on a budget and not too fussy about where we were staying.
We had not read any reviews prior to our holiday so had nothing to put us off.
The room was basic but had everything you needed [ we are not big microwave users ;) ] including a WORKING kettle, stove and fridge, sofa, table and TV. Fully functioning bathroom, the water was a bit temperemental sometimes going hot and cold, but this is to be expected really. Only complaints are that the pool was pretty cold, and another holiday maker from liverpool told us some horror stories about peoples room being robbed but it hadn't stopped him coming back for the past 3 years! As for 'drugs, parties and prostitution' i'm afraid it wasn't that exciting during our stay and we had no trouble at all We would recommend going to this hotel if you are young, still able to climb stairs, and want to avoid annoying children screaming into the night and day and night !!!!

“Canny for the money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2011

I had actually booked it in error and having read these reviews we were pretty much dreading staying here.
Shouldn't really have worried. Yes its pretty dated, probably hasnt had much done to it since the seventies. But Its cheap and if you want four star accomodation, then you will have to pay four star prices.
The location is very good , The rooms were fairly big, I'd say clean but old. The bathroom looked liked it needed replacing, as the bath and tiles had been painted a few times. The toilet was a bit loose and the light wiring wouldnt have passed UK safety regs. But the shower/ toilet worked and it didn't smell. The Kitchen again was old but clean and functional. Clean sheets, decent beds and a large balcony. We got a safe for €20 deposit which was returned to us when we left. We felt safer on the higher floors as we had heard that lower floors had, had some thefts from them the previous year, but no incidents to report this year.
The pool outside seemed pretty good and everyone we met was friendly.
There is no air con available in the rooms, which is a needed when its 35 degrees. We had known about this a took a 6" fan which helped, but we should have packed two of them. The TVs were also obsolete as Spain is now digital and the TVs have not been updated.
If the owner would spend a few quid on a new bathrom , TVs and optional air con, i'm sure they would get a lot more for the rooms which only work out at something like €20 a night.
John and Igor ran the bar during the day, which was also reception. Really nice chap from Rochdale, good low priced beer and Breakfasts.
At night the Bar is run by a Columbian woman who does not have the lower prices that John offers, but who stays in the bar at night anyway when theres so many other placese to go to in Benidorm.
Overall happy with what we got for the low price, what can you get for that price in the UK?
Benidorm itself seems very cheap this year compared to other Spanish destinations.
Beer was between €1.50 - .€2.50 a pint. Breakfasts were under a fiver and good meals were between €5 - €10 per person. Thousands of Spanish / Chinese owned gift shops which are really cheap.
Places to recomend? On the beach front Arenas was a good place to eat. We found a Chinese at the far end of the town which had a 5 course meal plus drink for €15 (FOR BOTH of us).
Some great live music at The guiness bar, Daytona and the Bikers bar between them is worth a visit or three.
Boat trip to the local island wasnt recomended, nothing there apparently so we went to Tabarca island which was well worth the money.
Overall dont be put off by the poor reviews, just dont expect 4* digs at 2* prices.

Room Tip: Bring a couple of small electric fans. Higher floors have good views and are cooler and quieter

it is ran by a bunch of rude drunks who do not give a s**t what goes on.
theft, prostitution, drugs and raves till 5am. vomit every where even on my pillow(wasnt mine)
electric wires hanging out of the walls and excrement up the walls in the bathroom.
our toilet came away from the walls none of the fixtres were fixed!
front door had been broken into so we took everything with us all the time. you had to wash your feet after walking round the apartment for gods sake.
the worst thing is i booked this holiday as a last min treat for my lovely fella as he is about to be deployed to afganistan and i just wanted us to have some happy memorys to talk about ha ha fat chance........ i paid £1000 for my holiday so even those who think its people after a bargain and there own fault, i wasnt after a bargain i just wanted a nice time what the hell did i do to deserve this???????
