“"please don't go"”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

Please believe the reviews that say the food is average. I'm not faddy but unless you like unusual fish you will be stuck for anything which looks remotely edible. in the end we tried to see the funny side and took photos of the dishes on offer since they were so disgusting even to look at let alone eat. 3 of us out of 5 ended up with really bad stomaches and we had to resort to eating out . On the plus side the white wine and lager are very drinkable just a shame they won't let you get one for each other and have to all keep going up to the bar! Yes there are few English but we didn't in any way feel intimidated and if you take the time to speak with the male staff who don't really speak much English any way they are quite friendly and try to share a joke. However don't expect any smiles from the female staff in the dining room!

“very good if you do not want a "british" hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2011

Just returned from 9 days all inclusive here and I booked the hotel Agua azul because of the location and price There were v few British staying there but this does not bother me.
..The food was variable but there was always something that I could eat .The one strange thing was that there must have been a supply problem with some of the food as there seemed to get less fruit selection and other items as the week progressed.
As regards cleanliness the hotel was spotless including the bedrooms and there was a v good shower and comfortable beds.I had a bit of a problem with communicating with reception staff as there was a discrepancy with my booking and I was under the impression that i would have to move rooms. They seemed not to be happy that I was occupying a double room as a single traveller even though I had requested this with the central reservations office and this was the room I was given on checking in.
I found most of the staff to be miserable towards the British customers especially in the bar and dining room.
Entertainment was geared towards the older Spanish clientele but you cannot complain as they were in the majority.
The pool area was kept clean but there were less than a dozen sunbeds so getting one was usually impossible.
The location is less than 5 mins from the Old town and 5 mins from the beach.and shops.
a bit of refurbishment is needed in the bar and public areas.but for a 3 star hotel with reasonable prices it is not bad as you get what you pay for usually.
I would stay again but on my regular visits in the winter I prefer a 4 sar hotel with a bit more comfort.

“Only English in the hotel and all inclusive stops at 12 noon on departure day”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2010

We were the only English family in the hotel. We were a little uncomfortable at times due to being stared at a lot (honestly, I don't have two heads
). Believe the reviews when they say the food is cold and at best average quality. Entertainment practically non existent but the aerobics rep is very pretty. Good location for shops and bars. However if you want English speaking, then you will have to walk about a mile to the other end of the bay. I took two 16 year old boys and they had a long walk each night to find other English speakers of their own age.

“not for the english”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2009

luvly clean hotel but certainly not for the english it was all spanish and they were very ignorant towards the english the food was cold and had 2 b warmed up in the microwave but even the food was very spanish.Me and my partner went and there were only 2 more english people there we were offered another hotel but were told we would av 2 pay 350 pound to b moved which i thought was a joke if the food had been warm and english and the hotel catered for the english then it wud av been great,i certainly would not reccomend this hotel to english people, afew days into the holiday we ended up payin money out and went to stay elsewhere,i would nt class this hotel as all inclusive at all and will certainly be complaining on monday to the travel agent we booked with as they should b aware that the hotel is nt for the english.

“okay place. shame about the food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2008

booked a last minute break aoa. when we arrived at the hotel the bus casused a hold up as norrow streets and only one way, this happened ever time a party was dropped of or picked up. we were on the fifth floor and as reception was busy and lift always full we used the stairs. hard work for to pout of condition slightly over wieght 40 somethings but by the end of the week we we almost running up the stairs. hotrl had good access to both the new and the old town and our room looked over to the new council buildings where at night the youths zoomed rould in their motor bikes. nice to watch and did not go on to late. hotel staff not approachable and food basic but always something able to eat. we were not in the bar area at nights as a stroll along the beach front was so relaxing. all in all a much enjoyed holiday. ou first with no kids.
