“Good Hotel but beware in Benidorm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Spent a month at the Rio Park and can only say good things about the hotel. The best hotel I have been to for quality and choice of food. The hotel had a good feel about it and all the guests were a great friendly crowd to be among. Some of the bar staff could have been a little more pleasant but this is the only negative comment I am going to make. All the hotel was spotless and a lot of emphasis put on hygene. Towels changed every day, rooms cleaned every day, and sheets changed at least twice per week. Drinks were good value for e.g between 8pm to 11pm you could buy a gin and tonic for 1.50eu.
However the crime in Benidorm is now rife and I heard of tales of someone being mugged in the lift of our hotel, to an old lady on a battery scooter having her gold necklace's pulled from her neck and causing her husband to have a stroke. Even the con people with the 3 shells and the pea, are still robbing people on the streets, and have been doing so for years. I have to ask the question, Why has the police not stopped this practice long before now. Every day I heard of diferent incidents of muggings and crime. Benidorm is still busy and still has a lot going for it but something urgently needs to be done about all the crime, otherwise people will stop going. Having said that, providing you are street wise, Benidorm is still a good place for a winter stay and I have no hesitation in recommending the Rio Park as it is a great place to stay

Room Tip: High room over looking the pool

Hotel good if you are over 60, mostly elderly and disabled, rooms clean, food ok, entertainment not that great, but plenty outside the hotel. One thing i did like was everyone sanitizing there hands before going into the dining room. Would come back to this hotel in maybe 20 years.

Just returned from the Rio Park after a wonderful 11 night stay. The hotel at this time of year is mainly full of elderly people but they know how to enjoy themselves!! Our room overlooked the pool and had the sun. The lifts were good and easily accessible. The food is excellent and there is always something for everyone even chips at breakfast some days! There is a new bar which is accessed via the terrace and pool. They show football on the large screen and have live entertainment also. The staff are all very friendly and can't do enough for you. The bedding and towels are very clean and the towels and bathmats are replaced daily. The beds have blankets for the winter months and extra pillows are available. The bedroom walls are a bit thin but we were fortunate not to be bothered by any noise throughout our stay. The hotel is very accessible for the local bars and beaches and the local bus service is fantastic with a static fare of 1.4 euro for a very long ride. We have used the hotel on many occasions and have been very happy with it. It should receive more stars. It is voted one of the best hotels in Benidorm repeatedly.

Room Tip: We prefer the pool view rooms to be quieter. A lot of the guests like the higher floors, there are 1...

“Sad sad single rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Before arriving at the Rio Park I was aware that a supplement was neccessary to be paid to obtain a single room, and also that they did not have a balcony, however in order to take a holiday a calculated risk was taken that the facilities would be suitable.

When I entered the room I was quite surprised to see the solitary small window was not provided with steel bars,as I am reasonably sure that a prisoner may well consider their human rights had been infringed, and also I cannot understand the justification of paying a supplement for a room that is only able to contain one person.

I have obviously been made aware of the jargon used by hotels and tour operators that it costs them more to cater for single travellers, and yet in my experience even when using a twin, they are not likely to use both beds, which would be the only reason why costs would be higher, and where a single room is allocated at a higher cost, then surely this represents fraud!

The Rio Park hotel however is excellent in all other aspects, food, friendliness, cleanliness, adequate dining facilities, comprehensive buffets, and bars/entertainment are all without fault, and they fully justify an additional star standard-is it the single rooms that deny them an upgrade?

It is a pity that I am unlikely to use the hotel again,as though not too much time is spent in the room I do appreciate a little comfort while I am there.

Room Tip: If a balcony is available then a high floor over hotel entrance gives the most sun

“Rated Too Low”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

just got back yesterday and i honestly think this hotel is 3*plus, the food is absolutely fantastic
and plenty of choice, the rooms are a decent size and kept well clean by the staff, the bar prices are very reasonable to say they have entertainment on every night and i find the staff and reps very helpful, would i return to Rio-Park,(TOMORROW)the only downside the walls are not very soundproof,
a strong recommendation is use the room safe and leave your jewelry in,do not wear any chains around your neck in daylight, and men to keep there wallets in front pockets.its not a nice sight seeing people who have had their jewelry stolen.hope this helps.
