Stayed at the Melia for the first time in 4 visits over the years to Benidorm and was very well impressed with the standard of the Hotel. We'd booked only days before we got there via the Travel Republic site and as it wasn't one of the dearer Hotels on offer we didn't know what to expect and was a lil apprehensive before we got there, "we" as in my partner and her sister and her huband had booked a last minute trip and was meeting up with my partners other sister and huband who had gone a few days ealier to a differrent Hotel in another part of Benidorm to celibrate New Year, we arrived on the night before New Years eve and although quite late when the coach dropped us off outside we knew we had chose a decent Hotel just from walking through the very impressive reception which to be honest looked more like a tropical garden that rose up 4 storeys high, we soon had our room cards and was placed on the second floor just 2 rooms apart which was nice, we used the glass lift to get there which is a nice touch and you can see all around you which gave a touch of class to the Hotel.
We entered our room and again was surprised on how spacious it was, nice comfy beds with good pillows and spares in the large glass fronted wardrobes that had plenty of hangers and also where the pay to use safe was although we didn't use it.
The bathroom had an almost full sized bath with a desent shower and the usual marble top with sink, toilet and bidet, towels were of good quality and changed if you left them on the floor, the room was made up each day but unsure if the sheets were changed but we were only staying for 2 nights so not a problem.
The TV was a flat screen and a nice size with 4/5 english channels on but as your on hol not really needed, there was also a large balcony with 2 chairs which faced the lovely pool and gardens, all the rooms face the pool so no need to ask or pay extra but if its a sea view you want well doubt it but maybe on the top floor you'd get a small peek inbetween rows of high rise blocks as this is Benidorm and the Hotel is well set back from the prom area and a good 10min walk away down a not to bad slope but coming back it feels a bit steeper but nothing to worry most about and at night we'd get a taxi back which was around 6euro.
We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfast was the usual which was plentiful and what should have been hot was hot so doubt anyone could be saying it wasn't upto much but hey there's born moaners even when there's nothing to moan about isn't there so im sure someone would find fault.
So if i was was to go back to Benidorm i'd certainly have no problem picking the Melia again and the only thing i can fault it on is that its not in the heart of things but that suited us fine as there wasn't any late night noise but as it was New Years we didn't really care as if you cant let a bit of steam off then whan can you.
Room Tip: Rooms upto 4th floor look larger and if you register with the Hotel they let you use your room later...
