Just got back from a week long holiday at the calypso and was fantastic. On arrival at 11am we were expecting to wait for a couple of hours before being allowed into our room but after check in were told our room was ready. Our room was on the 7th floor which is a bit daunting if your not too good with heights like my girlfriend but we dont spend much time sat in the room on holiday so that wasn't a problem. The room was adequate size with plenty of storage space for clothes etc. As has been said before you get a fridge free of charge which is great because after a day in the sun its nice to come back upto the room and get a nice cold drink :) the beds were comfortable and sheets would be changed whenever you wanted them to be, same with towels. The chambermaids were superb, every evening we came back to a spotless room and bathroom. The only problem I had with the room was that the bannister on the balcony was aluminium and didnt feel safe at all, I definately wouldn;t have liked staying with a youngster on a high floor, although these only seemed to be on the rooms at the front of the hotel the other rooms seemed to have more solid looking 1s. Around the pool there are plenty of sunbeds, we never had a problem getting one at any time of the day, and you can chose to be right next to the pool or at the back away from it. Also the pool is saltwater which was a bit of a pain but was bearable. The only thing I would recommend is to bring you own drinks to the pool as they are pretty expensive at the bar. 1.60 for a small glass of pop filled with ice. I dont think your ment to have your own drinks round the pool but we just kept them in our bag :) In the restaurant the food was great something different each night and very good quality, if your not adventurous they always have pizza chips etc but be warned if your veggie then there wasnt a veggie pizza the whole time we stayed but loads of fresh salad. You pay extra for your drinks 1.20 for a bottle of water. 1.60 for a bottle of pop and 1.70 for a bottle of amstel beer. We found all the receptionist very polite apart from 1 older man who seemed a bit grumpy and we dint have a hair dryer so had to keep going down to borrow one each night (which you leave a 10e deposit for) The hotel is in a great location 5 min walk from the beach, 5 min walk from the main bar/club area. and you have to go and watch tony scott a comedian who is on at 10.15 in stardust, the funniest person I have ever seen in my life. If you dont like being made a fool sit towards the back right hand side though :)
hope your have a fab time like we did :)
