“Mediterranean for Xmas!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Following on from 'thisisdidi' review...

4 day holiday. Boxing day on the beach!

Room was great, staff were indeed helpful - Paco at night time, Augustin and another guy I can't remember by day. Bar shuts at 2am. I advise you to be subtle at breakfast time if you are looking to make a few 'lunch-time sandwiches'! I was spotted putting stuff into our bag and told we weren't allowed, but that didn't stop my girl from walking out with a plate of food!! She got chased and told off!! (Still makes me chuckle!) Great breakfasts though. Hot and cold. There's a pool table and computer in lobby. Swimming pool and gym.

Bus straight into town but you can walk it in 45mins. Beaches were great. I'd say it would be epic in summer! There were a few swimming but not us! Too cold. Boat trips are available but not over Xmas. The coolest thing about Benidorm I think was the one stair-case with all the pad-locks along the hand rail!! If you want to leave your mark, bring a padlock!! 'Old Town' streets were okay. Same shops over and over though! A lot of tapas bars and nice restaurants. Bars along the beach front were standard. Read other reviews for more info. Small gay area which we checked out. We went to "Company' - small bar, english guys run it (Mark & Phil I think). Very welcoming. Caramel vodka recommended! She likes that vibe, and for a straight guy I had no bother. I think there's a bit of a drag element to the town too. We didn't do any of the big tourist trap shows tough.

Definitely recommend renting bikes. Best way to see the town. (The team we rented from are Marco Polo Activity Rental Centre on Avenida de Europa, close to beach and English area. Good lads, Dutch and Belgian. They rent quads, safari tours, cars, bikes....) Very reasonably priced. Everything was really good value actually. Means you can tip!

Benidorm is in 4 parts: Old Town, English side, Spanish side and local Benidorm. Great park down the local Benidorm bit with an ice-rink! There's a market too somewhere but we didn't see it.

Cinemas aren't really worth a look if your English speaking because the Spanish dub everything, but there was 1 movie on in English so it might be worth asking anyway.

Definitely rent a car though for a day and get up into the mountains and into Guadalest or somewhere and away from Benidorm for a bit if you can. It was my first time driving a foreign car but it was okay, not too fast and well sign-posted.

Yeah, we had fun! Good memories. Benny was good to us!

Room Tip: No preference. The hotel is away from the rest of the craziness so you get a great view of either m...

“Good for Overnight Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

We spent one night there when we drove from Barcelona to Granada, it's comfortable and easy to find. We stayed on a half board basis, the food was acceptable, nothing sensational but good value for the price. The service in the restaurant was ok, dinner was ok, but we'd eaten our breakfast and were ready to leave before the hot food came out twenty minutes after breakfast started. But having said that, their croissants were out of this world, fresh warm and buttery!!

The rooms are comfortable and well outfitted. The location is only fine for overnight because it is literally in the middle of nowhere, The shopping centre in the complex is mostly empty apart from a supermarket and one or two other shops.

“Ideal for short stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Stayed here because we had a late night at the fabulous Benidorm Palace and baulked at the thought of driving back to where we live especially after wine etc.
Reception was pleasant and we had a large 6th Floor room that was comfortable and very quiet.
There is free parking available.
Buffet breakfast was average.
Ideal watering hole for short breaks and business stopovers, and for journey breaks being close to the Motorway.
Swimming pool looked lovely but water colder than the sea at this time of year.
Hotel not really recommended for family holidays because it is remote from the beaches and entertainment and requires a bus journey (easy from here).

“Ideal for peace and quiet in Benidorm”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

As the name suggests, the hotel forms part of a complex comprising the bus station, hotel and small shopping centre. Hotel is a Travelodge type and many people would be put off by the location, though in reality, only a 15-20 minute walk to the beach and centre of town, or EUR 1.30 on the bus.

Hotel was very clean and comfortable, and pool area was quiet (no sreaming kids in sight!!!). Is close enough to Benidorm and for enough away. Breakfast wasn't really up to much, so wouldn't fancy half or full board.

Overall, excellent value for money, would highly recommend and would definately return.

“Very poor travellodge”

On arriving at our hotel I was shocked to see it was actually a bus station the lobby looked more like a hostel to have a drink in the sunshine you had to sit on plastic chairs on the carpark we were half board but I could not bring myself to sit in a small restaurant with 15 smelly bus drivers the pictures of this hotel have to be airbrushed as the pool is about 12 foot and a wind trap you could not possibly sunbath we were a couple so could go to the beach but if I had took the kids I would have moved the rooms are clean but basic with the hardest mattresses I have ever slept on on asking the man at reception for a softer mattress of sponge I was told they are this hard because there new and deal with it the rooms also have no balconys but windows open dangerously so if you take kids it would be dangerous the fire station was facing my room along with the motorway so not good for sleeping the best I can say about this hotel is it's rooms are clean ok for 1/2 nights but anymore and it would get to you

Room Tip: They're all the same
