I'm one of the rare Americans who did not visit Pamplona during the running of the bulls (actually, I was in Navarra on business) and found La Perla to be an excellent smaller hotel with history to boot. It's smack in the middle of the city plaza, half a block from the Cafe Iruna and the start of the corrida. I understand it has been renovated a couple of years ago, and all to very good effect. We stayed in the Aga Khan Suite, which was huge, modern (aesthetic is minimal), spotlessly clean, and had a gorgeous bathroom with two showers and a delicious soaking tub with great amenities. Turn-down service was lovely, with strawberries and bottled water by the bedside. We also thought the restaurant was terrific (the food in Navarra is by and large EXCELLENT): both lunch and breakfast were good. Can't speak to the service during the Feria but found the front desk, restaurant and wait staff to be very nice and helpful with smaller business requests.
