My husband, 11 month old baby and I stayed here twice in February, for three nights at the start of our vacation and 2 nights at the end. I was so happy I booked us here. I know it's been said before, but Juan really is a super host and makes you feel like family. Both apartments we stayed in were nearly identical and both were well-appointed. It was great having a kitchen. Juan had set up a baby cot that can double as a playpen, and that was great to have. You cannot beat the location - we could walk to Plaza Mayor, Sol, Palacio Real, etc in a matter of minutes. As the police station is across the street and up 25 meters from our door, we felt VERY safe walking home at night. One other perk is that because the bedrooms are located at the back, facing a small courtyard, it was wonderfully quiet for sleeping.

There is also a handy little hole in the wall grocery store 1 minute's walk up past the police station where you can find freshly baked crusty bread (yum) every day, great fresh fruit and veggies and almost anything you'll need for your stay. He stays open late, which was perfect for a quick stop on the way home from dinner. We had a couple fabulous dinners - one at La Musa in Malaspana and one at Las dos Velas (also in Malaspena. Get there early (we got there at 8:45 and got right in but they filled up by 9:15).
I highly recommend this apartment and cannot wait for our family to go back!

The location is unbeatable. With only one transfer on the metro from the airport, you're at the door-step from Barajas in 25 minutes. We accomplished this with an infant and luggage in tow. We arrived early, as one would on a TA flight, but Juan kept our bags in his locked office and called us when it was ready (by 11:30).

It was impeccable, and the kitchen was perfectly-sized, along with a washer (no dryer though) and clothesline. The street is quiet, and the bedroom is away from Calle de Fomento, so there was no street noise. You are two minutes from the nearest metro station, as well as Gran Via, though we found we enjoyed Plaza Mayor more. Juan was so accommodating and a pleasure to work with. He does not micromanage, and is liberal with the per-person policy.

We would go back in a heartbeat!

Cannot recommend enough, we had a 1 bedroom apartment right in the heart of Madrid, just 2mins walk from Plaza de Espana metro station. Everything is within walking distance from the apartments. They are secure and our one bedroom had the bedroom and living room at opposite ends of the apartment, which meant the 3rd person could effectively have their own room (using the sofa bed). Hosts were lovely to us, would definitely stay here again as the rates were very competitive compared to a hotel, of which you dont get a kitchen, dining table and couch!
