“Dont enough chic and just one color”

Hostal Chic & Basic Clours is situated in the centre of the city, about 5 minutes walking to the metro Anton Martin. Near hostal you can find lots of café.
But it was difficult for us to find hostal, because it doesn`t have it`s own entrance and visible signboard.
Hostal is situated on the third floor, but it doesn`t have an elevator.
As a minus I want admit , that the rooms in the hotel are VERY small. We`ve got room in a blue colour, it was very small. I don`t think that this hostal will be a good variant for those people for whose a comfort is on the first place.
The walls are very tiny, I read about it in web before our trip, so I had a chance to evidence it. We heard how people talked in the kitchen. But as a plus «Blue room» `s windows looks into the courtyard.
So, in the rooms you have TV, air-conditioner, safe. If you need hair-dryer you should ask about it staff.

About morning shower I don`t have anything good to say, because in the morning we practically didn`t have hot water at all.
I want to say that for the breakfast you can have anything that you will find in the kitchen, for example, cornflakes, fruits, milk, juice, bread, cheese, sausages. Also you can have coffee and tea always.
Staff is very friendly, communicate, helpful.
Hostal Chic & Colours have free-wifi.
In the and, I want to say that all service we received from this hostal doesn`t cost 83 euro per night, imho.

“With style but without chic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2011

We took this that hostal because of his Location. Its situated very close to the central squares like Sol and Plaza Mayor and (it was very important) its close to Atocha Rail Station. The nearest Metro Station is Anton Martin. But you have to know how to find that hostal because the signboard is very imperceptible. The hostal is situated on the 3 floor without any lift.
Rooms: all the rooms have differenet colors. We received the Blue Room. Its a small room. With TV and air-conditioner. The toilet is very narrow and it was not comfortable to enter inside it. Windows looks to the courtyard.
Breakfast its selfservice. In the fridge you can find some juices, milk with different fat content, yogurts, cheese and sausages. Also you can find cornflakes, bread, croissants and marmalade. All the time you can use a coffee machine.
+Good location, Wi-fi its free, in the hall you can find a computer with internet, staff its very friendly and competent. You have a key of the front door and don't need to worry how you will enter inside.
- Small toilet and a breakfast its really poor for the price we've paid.

“Fantastic location & friendly staff highlight your stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2010

Pros: Location, Location, Location - No better place to say. You are steps away to plaza del sol and several metro lines. Extremely easy to find. Tapas bars surround you and it's a great base camp for a trip around the historic section of Madrid. The staff are also extremely helpful and friendly.

Cons: Underwhelming decor. WiFi was down the entire stay. Breakfast was as minimum as you can get. A bit pricey for what is really is.

“Forget Chic - it's Basic, period.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 March 2010

For a citytrip with friends, we had two apartments (one for the guys, one for the ladies). A noisy one streetside, a quiet one courtyard side. Remember this if you consider going here: streetview was very charming but noisy.

As said: good location and affordable. However, I must admit I had higher expectations. The shower will give you about one minute of hot water and the couch (4 person appartment) that is supposed to be serve as a queen bed, is rubbish. Dirty and uncomfortable. I guess the word 'chic' and a very slick website caused these higher expectations.

Still, staying in a little appartment with a bunch of friends is more fun than an anonymous hotel.

Don't expect much and you'll be fine.

“Just as the name says”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2010

Everything was pretty good! everyday cleaning, basic but good breakfast, variety of pastry and juices etc. When I arrived they gave me a good map, told me where to go.. the stuff is really perfect and HELPFUL in all ways. room was cool, nice and clean but there were a few spots on the green wall-paper. but that happens I guess.. And! there are some discounts if you book 3 weeks before etc, so it can be a great value too! generally i was really satisfied and I really would recommend it!
