“Hostal Bruna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My first time staying in a hostal, but I would have to say that Hostal Bruna was definitely a good choice. 5 minute walk to the Atocha train station, & about a 15 minute walk to the center of the city. The 4 days I spent I never had to go very far for anything. Including clubs, bars, museums, festivals, & good food. I was also impressed with the rooms at Hostal Bruna, the floors were pretty new & the bathroom was as well, & very clean. Staff were always extremely nice & if I needed anything like an iron or even a cork screw before the new years celebration, they were always really good about it. The rooms were also pretty cheap, I think for 4 nights in a 2 person private room I spent 275$. I think If I ever make it back to Madrid, I wouldn't hesitate to come back here.

“Well priced Hostal with a great location in Madrid.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

This is my second time staying at the Hostal Bruna, having stayed there 7 years ago. The Hostal is clean and the rooms are secure having an inside locked door to go through as well as the main front door. The rooms tend to be compact but the bathrooms are fully equiped and very clean. The staff are very helpful and friendly, Domingo and his father Alejandro were there 7 years ago and still providing excellent service to their clients. My wife needed a fridge to keep her medication cool and Alejandro brought a mini fridge to the room and plugged it in for us. The location is the biggest selling feature as it is about 6 blocks from the Prado museum and the Atocha train station. It is located at the bottom of Huertas street where there are bars, cafes and clubs along that street. It is about a 8 block walk to Plaza St Anna which is a very vibrant plaza. When you arrive at Madrid at the airport you can take the airporter bus to the Atocha train station or take the metro.

“Amazing value in a central location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

This is the sort of place I wished I had found when I came to Spain in 1977 for school. We booked here at the last minute when we headed back to Madrid sooner than we expected in order to visit the Prado and Reina Sofia. We worried that maybe the room would be noisy in such a central location, but on a week night it wasn't. There are bars and restaurants nearby and we rolled our suitcases over from Atocha train station.

If you are looking for a clean, safe place to stay in what appears to be a family owned setting you cannot go wrong with the Hostal Bruna.

“Good value cost-benefit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

Hostel Bruña is very well located, between the Prado and Reina Sofia Museums. Our room was small but had everything we needed. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was spacious and everything was very clean. Over the weekend we were bothered by the noise of other guests, who arrived at dawn talking loudly. As we travel in the summer and Madrid is very hot, the heat also bothered us, but on the third night we ask a fan to the owner of the hostel and this was enough to make the cooler nights. The staff is very friendly and polite. I consider the Hostel Bruña a good value cost-benefit.

“Good value in a great location”

The Hostal Bruna is located very near the Prado and other museums and the Atocha train station. It is a "value" place to stay--very basic, but, for Madrid, inexpensive. Our room was tiny, but spotless (friends with us had a larger room). It had a private bathroom which was small, but quite adequate. If you are in Madrid to see things and just want a very clean place to sleep, the Bruna is a good choice. The owner and his daughter do not speak English, but are extremely helpful and friendly if you can communicate a little in Spanish. Breakfast is not included but there are plenty of places nearby to get coffee and pastries.

Room Tip: Ask to see the room; some are larger than others
