The most important aspect of this hotel is its value. It's not very expensive, but it was clean, new, and had a good location.
There was plenty of restaurants and bars around, and it was easy to walk around and also find a taxi if needed. There are times when you can hear people in the square late at night after they have exited the bars/restaurants, but it's not enough to wake you up (only loud enough to notice if you are still awake). If you are a very light sleeper, this may be of concern.
Check in and check out were pleasant.
Decor is modern. Rooms are not overly spacious, but not cramped either, especially by what I call 'european standards' ..... we were traveling around the world in 30 days, so we had plenty of luggage and we didn't feel like there wasn't enough room to hold everything.
If you are looking for a service oriented, luxury hotel with old european charm and an extremely brilliant attention to detail, this is NOT what you are looking for. However, if you want to spend less money for a nice, new, clean, and convenient hotel in Madrid, this is a great place to start.
It's not particularly romantic, or stylish (though the designer would beg to differ, I'm sure), nor does it have loads of character. It is, in fact, not really particularly anything.
But for the price, it works very well, and I highly recommend it.
Note: It wasn't SO great that if I came back to Madrid I'd automatically stay here again. However, I would definitely look up the rates for this hotel for comparison... and if the price is right, I'd definitely stay here again.
