We stayed two nights in the Clement Barajas Hotel. We arrived at Madrid Airport and walked to the area where hotel buses arrive. We tried to phone the hotel on my mobile but my mobile would not work. We were just about to walk back to the airport and phone for the transfer when it suddenly arrived right in front of us so we were very lucky. The receptionist on the check in desk was polite and efficient. We had our room within five minutes. The room was clean and nice enough, though a couple of things were broken - part of the toilet seat, the door of the cupboard with the minibar. We had plenty of space, a room safe, a minibar with free water and juice. The bed was OK, but not the most comfortable I have ever slept in.Toiletries provided included shampoo, conditioner, soap, a razor, tissues. Our package included a welcome basket of fruit and bottle of wine which we paid 10 Euros for. That came soon after our arrival and was nicely presented. We got two six Euro vouchers for booking our room through the hotel's own website. We used these for breakfast. It should have cost 7 Euros 50 cents but we got it for 1 Euro 50 cents. At that price it was a brilliant deal. We had Spanish omelette, bacon, Iberian ham, cheese, delicious bread, coffee, juice, fried pieces of dough- just to try them. We thought breakfast was pretty good. Again staff were friendly. The hotel provided free wifi and we were able to print off our boarding passes for our next flight in their business centre. The business centre had two computers for guests to use.
Barajas itself has a little town square, a church, some restaurants. We did not spend much time there. Instead we took the metro into Madrid. We took the train line 8 from Barajas to Neuvos Ministerious, changed to Circle line 6, went one stop to Cuatro Cominos Station then changed to red line 2 which will take you to Sol, Opera and most of the stations for sightseeing. It took a while but we were in no hurry. Changing lines involved lots of stairs, elevators, escalators etc. It was not just a short walk across the platform.
We took the hotel's free transport back to the airport. You must book a day in advance. Our room was nice and quiet at night. I would happily stay here again.
