I recently stayed at the Acis y Galatea for a short transit stop in between flights.
I originally found the hotel via reviews/forum posts on Tripadvisor, but thought I'd try my luck, despite the mixed reviews. I didn't want to battle through issues of non-friendly staff or noisy rooms.
I originally only wanted a day room as we had a 13hr transit stop after a 25hr flight and I didn't really want to spend more than the necessary time in transit. I ended up paying 120euro for the room (standard charge) regardless.
I was travelling solo with my young toddler so sleep for us was a must!
After wading through the maze of Barajas airport, the bus stop for the airport shuttle stop (together with the bus-stop.. just keep walking till you see it) was easy enough to find, and after a phone call to the hotel, the shuttle arrived within 15mins.
The female reception staffmember was fabulous (I'm pretty sure she works most morning/day shifts, but her name escapes me). Very customer focussed & friendly, quite contrary to the usual spanish view of 'customer service'!
Room was quiet & lovely, room service & food great - no complaints really. We had a fabulous restful break & loved it.
The only negative thing I'd say would be the shuttle back. I was assured by the female member that I could get a shuttle back for my evening flight, but when we woke up & spoke to the next reception staffmember, he said definitely no shuttles after 430pm. He was polite & courteous enough, but none of the 'open, friendly, nothing was a trouble' customer service we had before. We ended up with a taxi, which was all efficiently arranged & I think under 8euro back to the airport.
I'd definitely go back for a short stay if I wanted to be near the airport. Not a great location for Madrid siteseeing - but that wasn't the point of our stay.
