Not too many bad things to say at all. The staff was very helpful and even gave their information if I needed anything or got lost in the city and needed directions. We arrived really early around 9:00 in the morning, but they cleaned the room just so we could check in. The rooms are standard but nice. The bus stop is directly in front of the hotel, and it's only a 10 minute ride to the main part of town. Would recommend this hotel.

I was booked through an internet service to this hotel at the time airlines services from Switzerland to Madrid were not operating due to the ash situation. My reservation was for Monday night. I did cancel Saturday late in the afternoon, both through the reservation service on the internet, and I sent another email directly to the hotel. The hotel nevertheless charged my card more than 50 euros for the night, on the ground they have a 48 hours cancellation policy. Not only most hotels have a 24h cancellation policy but, due to the general circumstances, charging for the night is simply abusive. Not to mention that from Saturday to Monday there are two hotel nights, are two days not 48h?

Our European Trip brought us to Madrid, which in comparison to our previous destination in Paris is a relatively cheaper city, but we set a budget so we have to stick to it! And believe us - it was well worth going to this little hotel which is not exactly in the centre, but if you compare it with other European sized cities we have visited...its right in the centre. You can basically go from the Hotel to the Kilometre Zero of Madrid (Porta del Sol) in 15 mins on the Metro for less than a Euro (10 ride ticket of Metro).
The area of the hotel is calm, residential really and even though there is a big mall a the end of the road (10 min walk) its much better to get the metro and go to Plaza Mayor for some tapas and wines. We also recommend Plaza de Santa Ana (recommended by the receptionist - where you are not treated as a tourist but one more of the locals).
Hotel is simple, clean, nice rooms, free internet, buffet breakfast was included in our price. Friendly and helpful staff, and 24 hour refreshments, coffee and snacks at reception. Good place for the European "Gringo Trail". Helped us stick to our budget...which we burnt on tapas and wine!

We stayed at Plaza del liceo just on the leafy outskirts of Madrid and about 15 minutes ride away in a taxi (9-10 euros). The hotel was lovely, small rooms but very modern and clean. The maid came every day, and changed the towels on our second day there. There are no tea or coffee making facilties in your room but they do have a coffee bar downstairs. The mini-bar was cheap, 2 euros for a small can of beer. We visited Plaza Mayor and had our first meal there which cost us 60 euros, and was ok. But the next night we referred to the 'Rough guide to Madrid' and ate at a place called Amironotta (i think), excellent service (the owner gave us a free beer because there was a queue for tables), the decor was ultra modern and the food was delicious, this meal cost us 40 euros and made us think we had been ripped off the night before. The next night we ate at Del fonsa Susannah, again excellent food and only cost us 40 euros. The Royal palace is well worth a visit and for the people who appreciate Art a visit to the el prado is wort a visit too. All in all a lovely clean city, with lots of beautiful architecture and no brits abroad!!! (avoid the irish pubs if you want to avoid brits abroad).
