Well I wouldn't say that's a 4stars standard ......very old hotel,poor facilities,especially for young couple I don't suggest it's worth to stay. We booked a double from but got a 2single beds instead... Overall the hotel is old I don't really see why it's a 4stars,highly not recommended!!! The only good thing is quite convenient ...from the airport take am airport express,2euro pp,first stop is the hotel just 3mins always from the stop...other than that....nothing really worth to stay for a good holiday...... Btw no kettle facility (no tea coffee boilling water)in the room...can that be 4stars??? Poor thing!!!

Arrived in madrid friday afternoon,airport very busy but no problems,shuttle bus arrives every 15 mins to all terminals so easy,then straight to city centre,2 stops and about 25 mins later arrived at our hotel 200 mtrs from bus stop.cases taken straight of us while we checked in, very large reception area and staff very polite and spoke very excellent english,we were on 2nd floor 5 mins later are cases arrived.The room was very nice and modern,very clean and comfy beds,just missed facilities to make a cuppa but no big deal.The biggest disapointment for us was the buffet breakfast,it had all your cheeses and hams but the eggs , bacon, sausage were very cold every morning,all your fruit juices and as much tea and coffee you could drink.Overall the hotel was very clean and staff very polite,i would use this hotel again but would skip breakfast

The Convencion is very easy to find, but be ready to swing in to the courtyard as soon as you reach the hotel on Calle O'Donnell. It is a very big hotel, has a lot of tourist business including bus tours. The rooms are fine, but the fixtures and fittings, bedding etc are showing signs of age. Thje staff are friendly, the food is good. The rooms overlooking Calle O'Donnell are very noisy, very late in to the night. As the prices are low [we paid €68 for a double room, €12 for a very good breakfast].
The Parador del Jamon is a restaurant right next door to the hotel. It is a genuine Spanish restaurant with reasnable prices and stringly recommended for dinner whilst staying at the Convencion.

I stayed for 2 nights. Good location. Tube station O'Donnell is next to the hotel and Retiro and city cenre are by walking distance. The room wasnt bad except the fact that the view from the window was a wall but didnt like the bathroom-didnt look very clean and the door couldnd be closed.
