My partner took me to Madrid in November as a suprise present for my birthday. I did not know where we were staying until we arrived at reception and was immediately impressed.

The check is staff were friendly, efficient and made a great deal of effort to communicate with us in English.

We had a room on the 6 or 7 floor facing the main road with a small balcony. The bathroom was spacious with 2 sinks a bath and a shower. The amenities were all present and we had robes.

After we had unpacked we asked reception for a local map and places of interest, they were helpful, but in Madrid, you can find anything so easily.

The area of Grand Via itself (near to the metro/mcdonalds) isn't very nice. but it you take a left and another left as soon as you leave the hotel, you will find nicer areas.

La Latina and Mercado the San Miguel are THE places to go. We spent hours in the Mercado the San Miguel drinking and eating.

The cocktail bar in the hotel is amazing (if a little pricey) I would recommend the cappucino one, but you can tell the bar staff what you like and they will recommend something.

We didn't eat anything in the hotel - but with so much on offer elsewhere, I wouldnt even consider sitting inside the hotel.

We also made a trip to the Real Madrid ground - as a girl who like football on the odd occasion, the tour itself kept my interest throughout.

Overall a great experience - cannot wait to return

Nice hotel with good vibe. Amazing location. Close to everything-- we walked everywhere even in December when it was a bit chilly! Staff at desk was nice and answered ALL our questions and provided everything we needed. Only complaints were lack of lighting - but there were lights by the bed so you could read. AND lack of storage in closet with no dresser for clothes!

I cannot say enough positive things about Hotel de las Letras, we stayed for 5 nights over Christmas. The hotel was well appointed , comfortable and spacious.
We had a lovely room on the back side with a huge terrace. The location was perfect , just a short walk from the Metro , short walk to Plaza del Sol, short walk to Chueca ( see a pattern..?) .. It was central to everything! The only issue we had with our stay was the safe kept resetting itself & we had to call for service twice. I was amazed how quickly they replied to this as they had a technician at our door within 10 minutes, even on Christmas Day. Also the other thing was they only had an automatic circular door - which proved a bit tricky with a large suitcase ( at least for me)

We didn’t go to the bar/restaurant so I cannot comment on that portion. However, Madrid has thousands of places to eat & there is a Faborit, a local coffee shop, practically across the street – so it never even crossed my mind to eat or drink at the hotel.

To sum it up for a central location, nice décor, comfortable room , in a beautiful building with character, can't go wrong with this choice.

Stayed here for a few nights. Recommended by a friend. Nice hotel but rooms are dark - they could use more lighting. Restaurant is very expensive. I thought it was a bit expensive but comfortable. I would recommend Lusso Infantas instead.
