This is a pretty decent hotel in an almost perfect location (a bit off center but not far). Everything is within 5-10 min. walking distance. Very close to the center square of Sol, the main street of Gran Via, Cheuca and all major monuenments. Underground station is right around the corner so getting around town by public transportation is extremely easy.
Hotel lobby is a bit tight but very tidy and modern. I got a room on the 5th floor towards the back so street noise is not an issue. Room is quite spacious with modern furnishing - double bed (made of two singles), LCD TV on desk, very nice bathroom of contemporary design. Price is not cheap among hotels in the same area but does include free internet and breakfast so overall still a great value (many hotels of same/similar class in Madrid often charge extra for either breakfast or internet). Full breakfast offered every morning until 11am and food selection is very good. Staff is efficient and fast but not particularly friendly though.
A few minor issues viewers should be aware - no coffee/tea facility or bottles of water provided in room (but there is a mini-frig for guests to use); pillows are extremely soft and hard to sleep on; shampoo/soap/bath gel is not replenished daily, etc. No big deal but does make you feel the 4-star hotel service is somewhat lacking. Overall I will give this hotel a close to 4 rating and would not mind recommending it to people.
Madrid is a lively city full of history, culture and excitement. If you have a chance to be there, make sure to walk around town and experience different neighborhoods. Do not forget to take advantage of the free admission hours from 6-8pm daily and visit Museo de Prado - a treasure no visitor should miss!
