“Nice enough for business”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2010

Stayed in the hotel nearly a month, it was near where I was working but that is all. Not much else around it. Room service skips from 1600 to 2000, that was later than I am used to and the menu was limited. What they did have on the menu was pretty good but I would avoid the Chef's Salad. They do not talk much English here but they do some, cannot fault them for that, it is Spain. If you stay here plan on basically living off a very good breakfast and not much else. There is a shopping center (Corte de Ingles) about a 20 minute walk where you can get some provisions plus there is a McDonalds there. Clean hotel though, no issues so far, have a few more weeks yet to stay here.

“good value for money if you don't need to be near the city center”

I stayed already a few times in this hotel, as conveniently located near the place where I've got my business appointments, but it's hell if you want to go to the city center, might take you in worst case about 40 mns.. The hotel itself has correct and friendly staff, located close to the highway, excellent breakfast choice, rooms are ok, negative point is that AC is difficult to set to an acceptable level, but this hotel is good value for money if you don't need to be in the city center..

“Horrible hotel - avoid at all costs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

This hotel is absolutely horrible. Make sure before you book that you are looking at the correct silken hotel in Madrid as the website and names are confusing to say the least, I think there are 5 silken hotels in MAdrid all with nearly the same names!! We thought that we were staying in this really nice hotel with a great location and ended up here! On the only plus side at least there is a bus stop not too far away from the hotel but the bus into the city takes a good 40 minutes and there are no shops of any kind within walking distance of the hotel. I could talk for days about how awful I found this hotel but I will just give one example - the day after we arrived we left the hotel early to go into the city and on return 10 hours later (no point in going to the city unless you are willing to stay there for the day and night or you can afford to spend a lot of money on taxis!) our bedroom door was ajar. There was no doubt but that we had closed it when we left that morning. Spent the next 40 minutes checking to make sure that nothing was missing. When we said this to the hotel staff they were extremely rude and unhelpful, which was in line with how they had been our entire trip. The receptionist actually laughed in my face! On top of this on numerous occasions our room key did not open our bedroom door, the reception area would not sell us water after the bar had closed even though the bar was less than 5 feet away! Towels were never replaced in our room even though they were left on the floor and the place stunk of smoke!! Our romantic getaway was ruined by this hotel and it was the first time I have ever stayed in any hotel (let alone a supposed 4 star hotel) and been genuinely upset by the manner in which we were treated. This is my first review on trip advisor but I felt an obligation to warn potential guests of how awful this hotel is, do not be fooled by the pictures! There are so many reasonable nice hotels in the centre of Madrid there is absolutely no reason to stay here! Warning to all!!

“Best room-service I ever had!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2010

Just off' Avenida America, closely to Places like L'Oreal HQ I found Puerta Madrid. The hotel is in late 80s style - has been renovated a few times obviously - and is in good shape. rooms are in good size, but the feature I liked most was the room-service. 15mins for a Plate of Ham, a great Salat and a smile - all very authentic, friendly and at a great quality - just what you need after a 12hrs day.

“A nice airport hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010
1
person found this review helpful

After a week in Spain, we stayed here the last night before hitting the airport out. While somewhat close to the airport, there were no transportatino arrangements for us other than a taxi. The shuttle wasn't available either coming to or leaving the hotel, no metro nearby, and the bus around the corner didn't go easily to the airport. Next time, I might look for a hotel that could accommodate a flyer more readily.

Other than that, the room was awesome . Huge granite bathrooms, and a huge bedroom. We walked in and were shocked at the size of the room, and it was decorated very nicely. The price was right $63, tho I see others got a 60 Euro price.

The woman at the front desk was incredibly helpful...spent a lot of unsolicited time with us telling us how to access the bus to reach an out of the way location we needed to go to. The area around the hotel, on a Friday night, felt pretty lonely tho that makes sense as it was in a business park area. Regardless, we were on the easily-accessed bus to go elsewhere, so it didn't matter.

Great hotel!
