“Not bad but could be so much better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

Spotlessly clean with very good sized rooms / bathrooms. The air con' appears to be turned off in the winter so quite stuffy / hot in the rooms (a major road outside so opening the window not an option). Hot water somewhat inconsistent ie on some days there isn't any. When I mentioned this to the team on reception it was greeted by a shrug of the shoulders. Not great service for what claims to be a 4 Star hotel! A very good breakfast with both hot & cold food. A flash restaurant with a poor menu so often empty. Bar snacks available but, once again, a very poor choice of menu. The fact that the evening food's not good is a major issue as the hotel's not close to other eating / drinking options. All a cab ride away. Whilst fully appreciating that I'm a visitor to a foreign land, not to have at least one English speaking channel amongst the twenty or so available on the room TV's is a bit frustrating. Nothing can be done about the location but with a few simple tweaks / focus from the management this could be a very, very good hotel.

Room Tip: I've stayed a few times (close to our office) & the rooms have always been of a consistent s...

“Excellent hotel, great design”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

One of the best places for live if you are an architect , designs by architects , each floor done differently, take a hotel tour and see all floors, reception will help you to book a tour for the hotel, service is excellent and great breakfast, must have.

“Inconvenient Location- stay away if you want to enjoy Madrid”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

This hotel is very close to my office so we were booked there for a three week assignment and checked out after two terrible nites. First off- it took 45 minutes to get to the plaza mayor (downtown Madrid) and 20-25 euros for dinner. To make things worse- ordered room service which was terrible and there are NO other restaurants in walking distance. If you want to be in a location where you can experience Madrid, or at least do something conveniently outside of the hotel- this is not the place.

Other negative items- hotel lights kept flickering on and off all nite in one colleagues room, another had their tv wake them up by turning itself on at 3 am. Breakfast is unsatisfactory, gym is not even worth the effort. Hotel staff was not friendly. Hotel provides a shuttle service to the nearby business and the shuttle driver actually got extremely angry and argued with us when we arrived at 08:31 when we told him we were leaving at 08:30.

We checked out after two days and couldn't be happier. The only reason I am giving this two stars instead of one is because it is convenient if you work near there and have no interest in going to the city or enjoying the surrounding area. The rooms are adequate but small and not cozy. Rooms are inexpensive. But do NOT stay here if you are looking for a true Madrid experience.

“Quick transfer from the airport and quality rest.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

We chose the Puerta de Madrid because it offered a very attractive rate and is located a very short drive from the Madrid airport. Arriving with my family on a trans-Atlantic flight, it was important to get to a place where my children could rest very soon after landing.

The hotel is a conventional high rise, right alongside the A-2 expressway. Traffic noise was not bothersome due to very well insulated rooms and windows. We were able to check in quickly, and then children and adults had a much-needed nap. There was no noise between rooms, and noise from the hall was negligible.

Room furnishings were very comfortable, although the room was a bit small for a family of four. The bathroom was perfectly clean and stocked with high quality toiletries and towels. Bed linens were comfortable as well.

It would be understandable for first-time visitors to Madrid to want a more centrally-located hotel. A nearby bus line takes passengers right to Gran Via, and the nearest Metro station is ten- or fifteen-minute walk. Each of these options puts you at the essential tourist locations in thirty minutes or less. Other than the hotel restaurant and bar, there are no dining options on the same block, but very reasonable restaurants and cafes are within ten minutes on foot, along a nice residential street in a very quiet neighborhood.

The hotel staff members were friendly and helpful. Receptionists and doormen took extra steps to assist with delivery of delayed luggage from our airline. We were very happy with our stay at this hotel.

“Nice&clean hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2011

The hotel is very nice, very good priced and clean with an excellent bathroom fulled with things that make your leaving comfortable!! It is very close to the airport but if you do not have a transport it is difficult to access the city of Madrid. The breakfast is very expensive, more expensive than the room itself!!!Last but not least, they offer you parking in the price of 17euros (!), but there are plenty of space where you can park your car without paying!!
