“Stay with cockroach included”

Please take care in this hotel: we found a cockroach in our room!!! Unfortunately we found it the morning after and we have been sleeping in the same room the whole night.
In addition we had to face plenty of technical problems (water coming out the air conditioning as a water fall, etc...) with no people attending the reception phone at 21:00 during more than 45 minutes. But definitely the episode with the cockroach is incredible!! They confirmed us that they have been having problems with these animals before and apparently the came back!!
Probably the place should be closed until the problem is solved.

“Location, Location, Location ... but upgrade your room!”

I landed here for a week's stay with a package purchased thru American Airlines and have a mostly positive outlook.
The great: Location on Gran Via near 2 subway stops is unparalleled.
Housekeeping staff are gracious, efficient and responsive
I was anticipating one of the "hard" european beds ... and instead mine was very comfortable ... a foam pad over a foundation ... most accomodating
The good: While some have complained about the breakfast buffet, at 10euros it was not at all unacceptable. good selection of meats, cheeses, sandwiches; some "hot" (but mostly lukewarm) options; juices, coffees, fruits, pastries, yogurt, cereals ... really folks what more could you want? Yes there are cheaper places in the neighborhood .. but when it's 28 degrees out, i'll take conveniences over the few euros saved. The waitresses are very helpful -- the manager is NOT ... rude, pushy, and the only person on the staff i found to be less than helpful.
there is plentiful very hot water in the bath; a comfortable lobby area with bar service; free computer use in the lobby and quite effective wifi in the guest rooms.
The challenges: if you get the standard double or a petite dela reina, be prepared for a quite small accomodation on the back of the building ... in winter, the daylight does not seem to get here until 9 am! It's efficiently set up ... and has a surprisingly spacious bath ... but the bedroom itself is maybe 10 x 13 feet with a closet of less then 2 feet width ... housing suitcases was a challenge. and the beds are on casters that slide about on the hardwood floors.

Ultimately, one comes to be out and about, not in the room ... but midway thru my week, i was wishing for a chair to sit on instead of the bed!

Long and short, I will definitely consider staying here again for the location ... but i'll consider how long i am staying in selecting the room!

Room Tip: Look for my restaurant reviews ... and dont miss a stroll down Fuencarral Street (2 blocks over) for...

“Comfy and Central”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

I had the pleasure of staying 5 nights during the first week in dec. in this hotel. One of the main strengths is the location right in the middle of Gran Via which is one of the main arteries in the city centre.
The staff was friendly especially Merit, a young intern who in spite of her young age managed my check in very smoothly, giving me the necessary information regarding my stay and most importantly she managed to make me feel like a human being and not just a room number. Keep up the good work!
Hotel room seemed a bit small though double bed for single use, still everything worked, free wi-fi, well maintained furniture, flat screen, and very comfortable bed. Bathroom overall satisfying and kept consistently clean throughout my stay.
Welcoming lobby though a bit of style confusion.
The hotel is not meant to give you a wow effect as some boutique hotels would do but it's main force lies in the comfort it provides in many ways as well being in the middle of a great city like Madrid.

“Location of the hotel is very good”

As always, I will stay at the hotel, where is located in the city centre. This is the one. You just walk for 5 minutes then you will reach to shopping malls, restaurants, and walking street. There are both brand name shops andd local brand shops. Hotel reception who checked me in (afternoon shift) is very nice, good service and try to help. Morning ship - a lady does not sincere. I asked a question to get help, never think but say NO immediately. Ha ha I know the answer before as I got from the girl who checked me in I just want to see that she will give me the same or not. Fianlly it is not.
Beside that bad service of a girl, the others are very good such as wifi in room, room decor, unique elevator, breakfast, and ofcourse location.
I think I will come abck and stay here again.

Room Tip: You have to carry your baggage if you will take a lift, which is in the lobby. If it is big then it...
